There's a lot of flexibility to open up money to make this team better. Do I expect or want the Lions to open the max amount of cap space via restructures? No because that would mean restructuring deals of players who might not be here much longer, like Decker, or guys with injury/future concerns like Alim. But we can get over 60mil by restructuring Goff, Amon Ra, and Sewell; basically just turning their salary into a cash bonus and moving some money to void years on the contract. It would be about 67mil opened up and that's before we do anything else (cut Glasgow, possible Decker retirement, etc). After that shyt we could easily have 80mil in cap space.
That's enough to get a vet center (not Linderbaum) and also beef up the defense. Odafe Oweh from the Chargers would fit perfectly. So would Boye Mafe from the Seahawks. Arden Key could be an additional signing for a smaller third down rusher. I think we need a safety too. Not the top guys, but someone to hold down the fort until Branch and Kerby are healthy. Throw in a safety and edge in the draft and I'll feel really good.
