Wow. Shocked they did this and did so quickly after the season was over. They must have their eyes set on Thibs replacement already.

Respect for Thibs for getting us out of the basement and into legit contention. But honestly felt like he reached his ceiling wirh how far he could take this team.

Thibs kind of reminds me of a coach from a different sport....Buck Showalter (sp?). Good enough to turn perennial losers into respectable playoff contending teams, but not good enough to get you over the final
hump.

Respect what he did for us but that Gm 1 was such a travesty he deserved the axe for that alone. Later Thibs, it's been real. Take Hart with you :camby:

Ok so who do the players want?

Johnnie Bryant was like the only one who wasn't afraid to call Randle out on his bullshyt when he was here. Other former Knicks spoke highly of him too. But I can't imagine this current core not having major input on the next HC

But obviously I've been wrong already so yeah

I’d be excited about Bryant or Hurley. I’d learn to live with Malone.

For people who don’t want to mess with racist Twitter

Heard in the winter that sources close to the situation believed Thibodeau wouldn’t return without an ECF appearance. A high bar, but one he met. That may have changed when the front office suggested a lineup change during the Celtics series. They, gently, suggested Robinson.

Sources say discussions of a change were met with resistance. The change coming once the team was down 0-2 in ECF also came with reports that Hart caused the change. But sources say the organization was looking for Thibodeau to break his streak of never having changed a starting lineup during the playoffs unless he was losing a series. And the change wasn’t made until he was.
Sounds like the FO finally got tired of Thibs bullshyt…
End of season player meetings included discussions of the coaching staff, which Ian Begley first reported. Begs also first on James Dolan being present at those meetings. Knicks didn’t take making a potential change lightly. Have heard enough around the industry that former AHC Johnnie Bryant will be under consideration for the opening.

Rumors saying Johnnie is somebody they want to interview. He also says while Hurley might be open to the job there is nothing that indicates the FO is particularly interested in him for this role.

i been sulking and to myself since we got eliminated but ill come out of my hole for thibs lol respect and love for making us respectable again. So many coaches failed at that and he succeeded. back to back 50 win seasons and some of the most fun and entertaining basketball ive seen as a fan.

I do feel we need someone else to get to the next level but with no obvious choices this is also a hell of a risk. I hope this wasnt a blind firing and that we got someone suitable in mind. I dont know if a rookie head coach is the way to go here
