So much reactionary shyt in here like yall haven't watched this front office move silence the last 5 years.
"Knicks should have already had someone in mind!" - Why? Why should they have already had something lined up? For your peace of mind? To put you at ease that they're competent? 5 years of org building should show that. But even still, who says they haven't? Exhausting your options before making your final decision isn't indicative of anything and from what I can tell, the Knicks have inquired about coaches, doing their due diligence and nothing more. If someone got fired tomorrow, people would be crying the Knicks could have had X had they just waited; they're waiting and it's "they don't have a plan!". Some of yall make this shyt too easy.
They're doing an exhaustive search. It's like a company that lost their CEO. Nothing weird about knocking on some doors to see what's available and if someone might shake loose. All yall talking about their approach not being "normal" sound scary as fukk, or like you have no sense of how business works. You ever been cold approached by a recruiter for a job on LinkedIn? If so, something like this shouldn't be such a shock to the system. Why limit your search to what's currently available? Put all your cards on the table, have a plan A, B and Z and make the most informed decision.
To put it short, I'd be more worried if they already had someone lined up. That means they were already one foot out the door with Thibs and likely rushing to a decision, managing both their current coach and team as well as looking around for another one. Instead, they're free to singularly focus on the coach search and make the right pick.
Let them cook.
