Once Game started getting a buzz on his own and his debut was building up (which 50 did help out with) that jealousy started kicking in. 50 didn't want his artists to make their own decisions. He wanted them to fight his battles. And maybe banks and yayo got comfortable with how things went. I remember 50 saying that when Banks pops died he couldn't really relate to him being depressed like he was, and I get it because he probably has to be able to emotionally disconnect from shyt easily because of his situation with his moms...that nikka is fukked up in the head but I believe he loves them cats. Problem is how will/can he express it without being a completely different person than who he has had to adapt into being?

That's how you become someone who can "drop" people who you have emotional attachments to easier than most, deep down I think he cares about all them nikkas except game. Do you think these nikkas will ever be able to work it out? Do they even want to?

rocafella wasnt a numbers label. most of their artists were too street to go deep into the mainstream and/or were under-promoted. its all about the impact at the end of the day.

g-unit is in the convo tho. they were up there for a hot minute but they were never quite rocafella.

But were some of those people really "running" it?

"Running" rap and selling a whole bunch of records one year are two totally different things. Nelly, at no point, was ever THE go-to rapper no matter how many records he sold or what big hit he had on the radio. He could only make his own hits- it wasn't a situation where anything associated with him was hot by proxy- wasn't nobody out there buying Ali or Murphy Lee's shyt. When you runnin' shyt, everything linked to you gets hot. That's Biggie, that's Dre/Snoop, that's Em, that's 50, that's Jay. Some of the others you named were just having a real hot year or two. And when those years passed, shyt went down fast. I'd take a Jay-like career over a 50-like career any day. Cause 50 has had to eat crow and do some of the same things he used to clown nikkas for when he was on top... that's gotta be a humbling experience.

I don't think Fif understands friendship. He did take care of his crew but, I really think that was about control and manipulation....keeping nikkas in line and dependent on him. He says now that he wanted Banks/Buck/Yayo to stop coming to him for help but, if he really REALLY wanted that, then he wouldn't have been so insecure with Game. I guess he wanted nikkas being self-sufficient. He just didn't want them being hotter than him For example, I find alot at fault with Jay-Z but, Kanye West became a superstar in his own right between 2003-2005. Jay didn't throw him no shade, he let Kanye spread his wings. And for a time, Jay rode Kanye's stardom to remain relevant. A nikka like Fif is threatened by that.
