4.2 is too powerful for the nexus 7 bro. Nexus uses a tegra chip which is why htc phones lagged so much in the past. Snapdragon is everything. Google learned their lesson and are using the snapdragon 600/s4 pro for the new nexus 7.

yeah hope it stays at the $199 price point. most likely first day cop.

Wait what? Your post makes no sense seeing as how HTC has been using Snapdragons forever

Unfortunately, reports are starting to emerge that the tablet might be experiencing growing pains - or, possibly, a premature death.

According to Dustin Earley at Android and Me, in a blog post widely cited in the tech media on Wednesday, the Nexus 7 is showing severe drop-offs in performance.

"I can't find one person who has been using the Nexus 7 for an extended period of time, and hasn't seen a massive downgrade in performance," Earley writes.

"I cannot pick up my Nexus 7 without experiencing problems like a lag of ten seconds, or more, just to rotate the display; touches refusing to acknowledged; stuttering notification panel actions; and unresponsive apps."

And he's not alone. Beneath the piece dozens of Nexus 7 users say they have also experienced issues, while Google's own forums hold similarly dispiriting tales.

"I have all the same exact issues. Horrific lag when doing anything in the browser, any simple multi-tasking, and at least one crash/reboot per hour," said one user, Kunal Patel.

Not all users said they had experienced problems however, with some saying the tablet worked as well as the day they got it.

Apple Insider (arguably not an unbiased source...) suggests that the issue might be down to cheap SSD memory. One Android app developer said it related to a well-known bug in Samsung's "flash controller firmware".

We wouldn't hold off on purchasing a Nexus 7 based on these reports alone - the tablet is still an excellent device for the price.

But have you experienced similar problems? If so let us know in the comments.

one mans opinion :russ::umad:

DigiTimes, it looks like NVIDIA is having a hard time convincing tablet and smartphone makers to use their new and still unreleased Tegra 4 processor in upcoming devices. Apparently, Toshiba is the first and only adopter of the new Tegra 4, who will feature the chip in tablets that could debut in July. With stiff competition coming from Qualcomm and Samsung, NVIDIA is looking at other ways of selling and getting these new Tegra 4′s out of the door, even if they don’t have big name support from the likes of HTC and AS

Nvidia Explains the Disappointing Tegra 3 Benchmark Results

The response came from Nvidia Poland and basically calls today's GPU benchmarks unfit for testing the performance of its graphics cores as they rely on low resolution and low complexity scenes for its results.

“When benchmarking, please be aware that popular mobile GPU benchmarks typically are not good examples of today's mobile gaming experiences.[...]

“The new gaming content to be available for Tegra 3 Enables more effects, true dynamic lighting for more realism, and high resolution environments.

“Games that are highlighted on TegraZone deliver outstanding gaming experiences on Tegra platforms, and the following titles are examples of games being developed specifically to take advantage of the Tegra 3's quad core CPU and 12 core GPU: Da Vinci, Shadow Gun, Chidori Engine, Sprinkle, Bladeslinger, Riptide GP, and Glowball - with many more to come.”

Lenovo LePad K2 Tegra 3 powered tablet GL Benchmark results

Some of the most interesting Kal-El graphics performance results made their appearance on the Web at the end of last week when Lenovo leaked the scores of its upcoming LePad K2 tablet powered by the Nvidia SoC.

The results were obtained by running the GL Benchmark graphics test suite, which was setup to work in the offscreen 720p mode making the scores comparable with some results posted for the iPad 2.

Despite the quad-core ARM chip and the improved built-in GPU used by Nvidia for the Tegra 3, this benchmark showed the LePad K2 still lagged considerably behind the iPad 2 in terms of graphics performance.

You said "HTC Phones" plurally and proceeded to name one phone. HTC has used SnapDragon processors since the EVO...you contradicted your argument...yet again

Google stepped up the internal hardware. Its a galaxy nexus to nexus 4 leap in hardware. They cant gimp on the hardware anymore. The nexus 7 is the only android tablet making any noise and google is pushing for tablet apps. If users cant use it because it slowed down then its a lost for them.

Google used tegra because asus is BFF with Nvidia. I avoid all tegra chip devices. Asus devices are shytty because tegra chips cant handle bone stock android smh.

tegra chip=slow/choppy/laggy

how? you using google calendar and it shows up on the windows 8 calendar?

Yup. I don't remember if had to change any settings to get it popping... set my laptop up in Nov. I can confirm 100% that it does sync though. Check settings in windows 8 and on your phone. I'll take a quick look too... see if I find anything

Microsoft confirms it's shut off Windows 8-Google Apps calendar sync - Computerworld

ill play around with it some more

Damn wasn't even hip.. that's crazy. Definitely works on mine though.. thank god.. I'd be tight if it didn't.

When I try adding an event on my laptop I notice that in the top left hand corner I see my gmail. That must be how it's being synced. Guessing I some how added it when I was setting the computer up that first time.
