[ame=http://vimeo.com/68855337]GIZMODO - A Faster YouTube P. 1 on Vimeo[/ame]

How frustrating is it when your are watching a funny YouTube video, or listening to a song on YouTube, and it all of a sudden stops? You are met with that dreaded spinning wheel, that makes you want to head butt your monitor. I know I hate it, and it seems to be steadily getting worse. YouTube has a solution for us though, and they plan on implementing this solution hopefully by July 4th.

In the video below, Team Leader of YouTube’s Engineering, John Harding, points out just what it takes for us constant Youtube watchers to playback the videos we choose to view. There are many steps to the process and really we are only concerned with two factors; clicking the thumbnail, and watching the video. So they plan on changing the process which I will allow Mr. Harding to tell you in the video below. Glad to see they are helping improve our YouTube lives.

N4 was my first android I went from an iphone 5 to that

The One is:

Faster
better camera
more responsive
better build quality
better sound (both front facing speakers & through headphones)
battery is much better
plus has little features like the remote (which I probably wont use anyway)

Unless it starts crashing after every call

HTC One>>>>>>>
How was the n4 from the 5?
Im not saying u wrong but u only had it a few days so u still obviously star struck. Just lemme know how it still performs after a month

Of course it's going to be better than the Nexus 4 when it cost almost twice as much to build a HTC than it does a Nexus 4. How are you going to compare phones that are not even in the same category?

shyts gonna flop

they better not kill the nexus line, nobodys gonna pay 700 just for stock :bryan:

Why do people care about numbers when you have no vested interest in the company? :heh:

I guess the Nokia 1110 is the best phone of all time because that phone sold close to 250 million.

They're not killing the Nexus line... the S4 and One are being offered because Google knows there are people out there who want stock Android with better specs and hardware than the Nexus 4 can offer.

I found the transition easy i've been using iphones since the 3 so it was a big step for me. The only thing that was a noticeable drop from the iphone 5 was the camera. The nexus camera is horrible, the drop off in speed isn't really noticeable and features such as google music etc. have converted me to android for the long run

Calm down if you look a couple posts up I say you can see the price difference.... its not that serious

Google Now update brings new cards for TV shows and Google Offers

Google improves location-aware and voice-controlled features for Now

An update to Google Now is bringing two new types of cards, TV shows and Google Offers, to users starting today. For those who have an internet-connected TV on the same network as their mobile device, Google Now can now listen to the show you're watching and offer more information -- such as actor or show details -- right on your device. For Google Offers users, Google Now will show reminders for upcoming saved offers when you're near a store that you can use the offer at, which expands on Google's current location-aware shopping and research cards.

Additionally, the latest update also includes a new voice action to play music from Google Now. You can now say "Play [artist name]", and a prompt will pop up letting you select your preferred music app from the ones you have installed. The app will then open and begin playing from the artist you asked for.

The new TV show card is U.S.-only for the moment, but the other new features should be available for everyone. You can grab the latest updated Google Search (which is Google Now) app from the Play Store link above.

Tech nerds makes up the internet. You think people have time like you to flash and update roms nightly :mindblown:

This is another choice/option.....you know android=choices and ios= no choice....Keep your gs4 and run CM10

Tech nerds that dont flash or root? :leostare: :patrice:

You act like its some long drawn out process though. Most people will root/flash instead of paying $600 for a brand new device.

Google Is Developing Android Game Console

Google Inc. is developing a videogame console and digital wrist watch powered by its Android operating system, according to people familiar with the matter, as the Internet company seeks to spread the software’s domination beyond smartphones and tablets and cement build the company ‘s reputation as a hardware maker.

With the watch and game console, Google is hoping to combat similar devices that Apple Inc. may release in the future, according to the people familiar with the matter.

Google is also preparing to release a second version of a Web-connected, Android-powered media-playing device, called Nexus Q, that was unveiled last year but not sold to the public, these people said.

The Internet giant hopes to design and market the devices itself and release at least one of them this fall, they added.

A Google spokeswoman declined to comment.

The hardware plans are the latest sign of Google’s determination to build on the success of Android, the software it launched in 2008 that powered 75% of all smartphones and 56.5% of tablets shipped globally in the first quarter, according to the research firm IDC.

Games that run on Android software have proved particularly popular, and they are growing much more quickly than games made for the big-name consoles supplied by Microsoft Corp., Sony Corp. and Nintendo Co. The appeal of such games has prompted the development of new devices aimed specifically for Android by other hardware companies.

The people briefed on the matter said Google is reacting in part to expectations that rival Apple will launch a videogame console as part of its next Apple TV product release.

An Apple spokeswoman declined to comment.

Google has also been watching the efforts of Ouya Inc., a startup that this week began selling a $99 Android-based console and game controller, one of these people said.

According to the Wall Street Journal, Google is working on its own Android-powered gaming console and smartwatch — and a replacement for the Nexus Q is also on the way. The report states that Mountain View hopes to ship at least one of the products by this fall, and plans to both design and market them itself. In recent months, Android gaming consoles like Ouya and the GameStick have received a tremendous amount of attention — the Ouya went on sale at retailers just this week — but according to the Journal's sources Google's move to create a console is also based on expectations that Apple will add gaming to a future version of the Apple TV.

"Improvements for low-cost smartphones"

Google is currently working on the next iteration of the Android operating system, which will reportedly be better suited for the low-cost smartphones that are taking off in developing counties. Google is said to be developing its own low-cost smartphones — a one-two punch that could prove effective against efforts like Mozilla's Firefox OS. Through its Google X hardware facilities the company is also reportedly working on "next-generation" Android devices separate from the hardware its subsidiary Motorola is developing.

According to the Journal, expanding Android's reach across multiple product types is a big part of Google's plans. HP is named as one hardware partner that is working on a new laptop that will run the next version of Android, internally named "K release" (our own sources have indicated the shipping name will be Key Lime Pie). The Journal reports that the Android-powered laptop is intended to be a direct competitor to Windows computers.

"HP is working on an Android laptop"

As part of that broader plan, the new version will also feature official, Google-sanctioned support for a broad range of new device types — from the laptops mentioned above, to appliances and wearables. The latter is shaping up to be a crowded market even before it's really taken off; Sony recently announced the SmartWatch 2, and both Apple and Samsung are said to be working on wearable devices of their own. The new version of Android will reportedly arrive sometime this fall.
