With cyanogenmod you can have whatever theme you want. Its AOSP with a shyt ton of extras. They've had this option since 2010.

Another thing I've been on 4.3 for 2 weeks. Note 2 with a big ass screen. And oh yeah a sdcard slot.
Shhhh...don't tell him...it's RBK he won't get it anyways :mjpls:

Hey @Rohiggidy & anyone else, which of these manufacturers will more consistently update their Android devices?

None of the Nexus or Google Play editions smartphones fit the specific specs that I'm looking for, so I'm finna return my "Samsung Galaxy Victory" this week & I just bought a "Motorola Photon Q" a few hours ago on eBay because I'm hoping since Google owns Motorola, that Motorola will more consistently update & support their phones longer than the other manufacturers.

I don't know if anyone else has seen this program yet, but as far as I can tell the way it works is that the client does directly connect to Apple, but the data is all processed on the developer's server in China. This not only means that Apple can't just block them by IP address, but also that they get to keep the "secret sauce" on their servers (and potentially just run Apple code: there are some parts of the process in Apple's client code that is highly obfuscated).

Every packet from Apple is forwarded to 222.77.191.206, which then sends back exactly what data to send to Apple (along with extra packets that I presume tell the client what's happening so it can update its UI). Likewise, if the client wants to send a message, it first talks to the third-party server, which returns what needs to be sent to Apple. The data is re-encrypted as part of this process, but its size is deterministically unaffected.

Clearly, this is suboptimal from a security perspective. Is this the kind of thing that Google gets involved in? (+Nick Kralevich: I'm legitimately curious about that.) The developer is even responding to reviews about login issues asking only for user's Apple IDs, which makes it sound like even the authentication must be under his direct control (where it can be logged and debugged given only the username). Arguably, though, the app does do what it claims to do ;P.

Thank me later

Well, I expect the manufacturers to keep their high-end phones updated. The question is will they keep their mid-range phones updated?

You are buying out dated phones but samsung is the best at updates. Motorola is a new company. Don't expect any updates for those old devices. Learn to root and ROM your device

Damn!!! I wished I had asked y'all in this thread before I purchased that "Motorola Phonton Q" phone. Y'all got me now looking at the "Samsung Galaxy S Relay". It's the only Samsung smartphone that fits the specific specs I'm looking for AND has official CyanogenMod support.

Nah young. I watch a lot of older Standard Def (& sub-SD) TV shows & movies on my smartphone. But I don't want my SD videos being blown up to an HD resolution. So I need a phone with a SD resolution (854x480 or 800x480), but i'll settle for a qHD resolution phone. At the same time, I need my phone to be powerful enough to play 1080p video smoothly, so I can hook it up my phone to my TV via HDMI or MHL. So this pretty much leaves me having to look at mid-range smartphones.
