According to this youtube Disney wants Damson Idris for T'Child and Cynthia Erivo for Storm while Marvel wants Aldris Hodge for T'Challa and Jodie Turner-Smith for Storm....interesting.
Nothing interesting about it. Those are just rumors that are based on articles that don't have much (or any) merit.

I hope Aldis gets the role. I think he is the only one who can carry the torch after Chadwick. Also, Chadwick was diagnosed with cancer in 2016, filming for Black Panther started in 2017 and it was released in 2018. I'm sure Disney and Marvel studios had to make accommodations for the franchise due to the lead actors real life health battle. They probably had to expand the supporting characters role. T'Challa character wasn't written as weak or passive by any means.

Like seriously, he should've just stayed his ass on the sidelines until a "Luke Cage" movie became available if he felt so strongly against the theme of what T'Challa and Black Panther represents. Just felt very white man-like "oh i dont think (white) audiences can relate to a negro unless we juxtapose him with a white savior who enlightens him."

I also don't like the forced matriarchy where all the men are reduce to villains or bumbling idiots or that after the strong father son bond in Civil War, you now have T'Challa and T'Chaka fractured after BP 1, and now after BP 2, from what i gather, you have him on some Drake shyt leaving behind a b*stard son that he wanted to "hide" from his own kingdom? now raised by a single mom? :dead:

And now for BP3 they gon lean on a 70-year old Denzel as the markee attraction since you done killed off, wrote off, or castrated all the other males? A white man couldn't sabotage this worse :mjlol:

Finally someone sees through the bullshyt.

Breh I be so ready to fight whenever MCU Tchalla is discussed.

Coogler really sabotage a black superhero for what? I wonder how much was the bag to donate hit piece on a fictional character.

I knew once they stripped him of his intelligence and then made Shuri the inventory etc that my T'Challa will never be seen giant.

Civil War Tchalla was the most comic book version

Nobody at Disney knew about Chadwick’s condition. He didn’t tell anybody except his family and manager.

Well then that makes calling the character of T'Challa weak or passive even more wrong and disrespectful since he was played by an actual superhuman.

Wrong....only Coogler's T'challa looked weak...Russo Brothers' T'challa was the truest representation of him we got.

This isn't some gotcha. Cause yes opinions can change over time, but my nikka don't let your frustrations from the fallout of Chadwick dying ruin the damn movie for you. Like I give shyt to @Ziggiy for not seeing the 2nd movie, but regardless of how much he hates the fallout from it he didn't let it ruin the 1st movie for him.
And I get it cause I've been mad angry as well at times about them not recasting. However, cant let that cloud the movie.
Just left the theater. Best Marvel superhero movie ever :wow:

We did it :wow:

That 2nd post credit scene Easter egg tho :ohlawd:

Yo, MBJ killed it. Shiiit, pretty much everybody killed it! Winston as M'Baku was a scene stealer too, he had my theater audience roaring and rolling everytime

@Ironman @Young Bishop @Rastafarian42 @wire28 when y'all see this if y'all haven't yet.. TRUST, on some objective shyt, this movie is GOAT level superhero piff. I ain't even saying that as a 20 year BP fan whose been waiting for this ish all my childhood.

Just on some objective ish, this movie is as good as it gets, possibly ever in the genre. And shyt, take the genre away and it still measures as absolute piff on its own

Brehs and brehettes, i know yall have spoken on it many times already but yo, Chadwick truly impressed me in this film. He gave an acting clinic :wow:

You may not even truly appreciate it the first time, especially when you watched it in a packed theater (because everyone will be focused on the excellently written and delivered punch lines by Shuri and M'Baku, meant specifically to blow the roof off theater crowds).. but the more times i watch the film (4 times now), the more brilliant I find his depiction of T'Challa. The big moments but also the subtleties.

For example, Shuri was fantastic but it was the back and forth with her brother that amplified the scene.

"What are THOSE??" And then cut to BP gleefully showing his open toed shoes that caused the crowd to erupt. Or him kicking the suit the 1st time and Shuri's reaction to him kicking her stuff. Or him kicking it the second time, and his "delete that footage" line that had the crowd roaring in laughter.

Or just his stage presence and predator glare in Challenge Day when M'Baku and the Jabari tribe crash the party. His subtleties and non-verbal communication were A1. And then his dramatic acting... him and Sterling K Brown were gawdly.

This was part of my favorite scene of the whole movie

When T'Challa's walking out the bugatti spaceship and everyone is singing his name like a church sermon :wow:

absolutely chilling

Then Jabari tribe crashing the party with M'Baku like  while T'Challa got that look like :demonic:

Then the fight itself :banderas:

Yo... that was incredible directing/acting/cinematography/stage presence/everything

Yea, I mentioned it in what i wanted to see in BP 2, but i felt Coogler was a little too unselfish with T'Challa when it came to the action/ "sharing the wealth".

For example, the casino scene: The time given to each character was great but Okoye had the best choreography by far, whereas T'Challa [and Nakia] were looking pretty generic. And it doesn't have to be one or the other shining. Ideally, you still give Okoye that moment but in the moments before T'Challa jumps to the 2nd floor to confront Klaw, you gotta have him take out those goons in a much more entertaining way than close-up generic punches. After those social media videos of Chad working with those MMA trainers, i expected a bit more.

And Nakia taking off her shoe and judo throwing a goon isn't going to be quite as fun, immediately following Okoye taking off her wig and using her bowstaff. So really, Nakia should've been straight up Jason Borne/Atomic Blonde. Her shtick was she uses any/everything in her surroundings, so i would've liked to have seen that, or her unveiling her rings somehow, same way Okoye did her staff.

Everything else in the movie was superb but the h2h fighting is the one thing i really want Coogler to elevate in the next one. And he's done Creed, so we know he's more than capable. But especially with T'Challa.
Now this last part kind of goes to what I was just thinking in regards to @Rhapscallion Démone post.

I dont recall T'Challa doing much in IW or Endgame tbh. I think the reality is, yes even if the Russos are better action, Chadwick wasn't the same Chadwick by BP. He was dealing with cancer. There's not just the movie you shoot, there's the movie you edit, etc. I think editing they found they had to go with what was working more unfortunately. That casino fight he wasn't moving as swift and thats epecially hard to hide when Coogler favors longer takes of scenes compared to Russo's chaotic/hyper cutting editing style.

T’Challa’s characterization was NOT as awful’s as Finn’s stop it

What was the difference outside of one being a comedic character? :what:

BOTH were okie doke characters who were used as vehicles to prop up other characters/concepts.

HELL what they did with T’Challa was FAR worse despite the character not being a BUFFOON like Finn.

At least Stars Wars isn’t called “Finn” and Finn had ZERO prior source material.

Disney put out a movie called “Black Panther” and made the character a passive supporting character. They looked at the character/source material and said:

We’re NOT going to display the character as one of the SMARTEST men in universe and INTELLECTUALLY DOMINANT.

We’re NOT going to display the character the most ECONOMICALLY DOMINANT man in universe.

We’re NOT going to display the character as POLITICALLY DOMINANT in universe.

We’re NOT going to display the character PHYSICALLY dominant in universe.

We’re gonna give all that shyt to OTHER charscters. T’Challa in the movie couldn’t do shyt without any sort of help. Meanwhile Killmonger and the women of Wakanda COULD:scust:

Black Panther should have been a DEFINITIVE T’Challa movie with T’Challa as THE STAR like they do with James Bond and Ethan Hunt. Instead it was the opposite which is why they can put the character on ICE.
