Had to get used to jay new rhyme structures. On top of the structure of the songs. Im so used to Jay doing a 16 then the chrous. Sometimes those hooks pop up out of nowhere. It felt weird at first. But like with every Hov album the "oh sh1t, thats wat he meant" "didnt catch dat" moments come and are those moments beautiful.

So far i like it alot. Its a 4 with room to grow.

A lot of those 4's will become 3's and 2.5's as time goes on. It's the Jay-Z factor that has people overrating it.

The album is a 3/5. C if we're using a letter grade. The production is strong, but overrated, and Jay-Z's lyrical content and subject matter are disappointing combination of shallow, repetitive, and boring. At this point it is clear to me that he doesn't have another truly great album in him. 4 out of 12 isn't bad though, I guess. That's a well over .300 batting average, though I will admit it's hilarious that this is the same man who accused Nas of having 1 hot album every 10 year average. Lol.

So is Born Sinner better than 7 Day Theory tho?

Right now im giving it a 3.5 with the chance that it will move up to a 4 after I listen to the album a couple more times. I don't see me giving it below a 3.5 though.

Definitely a disappointment for an artist of Jays caliber. 2.5 mics. Blueprint 3 was even better than this. You know its bad when Justin Timberlake got the best bars on the disc.

4 mics, most of what Jay is spitting on the album goes over most people's heads like always, he's spitting on this project for sure.

Beats are banging and the standout tracks are really strong like Oceans, Picasso, Part 2, Heaven, Somehere,Crown Etc are some of the best songs dude has made in a long time.

Overall this is his best album since Black Album IMO his best effort since his comeback

3 mics. Production wise, what the hell is so special about some of these songs? Like the song Heavens, sounds like something 9th wonder can do in 10 mins. Picasso Baby sounds like a west coast mix tape beat a la sly boogy.

lyrically it's pretty good, but how many times am i suppose to hear maybach and bugatti

Good album. It's good music, great beats. But lyrically, I think Jay-Z's worst ever.

I've said it before, but subpar to average production(considering the big names), certainly no memorable beats, most of the hooks are weak/too repetitive/drag on too long....Jay's lyrics are cool, but not as good as WTT.

I gave it 3.5

3/5 Love the beats and the flow but the braggadocios nature of jay's lyrics always have a nikka . RD had the same content but the lyricism was on a whole 'nother level
