K.Dot has something special in store for his performance...

“That’s what art is about … not about whether you agree or disagree, it’s about it stimulating conversation,” rapper tells TheWrap

Grammys host LL Cool J teased some of this year’s performances for TheWrap, including Lady Gaga‘s David Bowie tribute and a “controversial” turn on stage by rapper Kendrick Lamar.

Taylor Swift is opening the show, but then we have everyone from Rihanna to Lady Gaga to Adele,” the host told TheWrap’s Stuart Brazell.

Gaga will be performing a David Bowie tribute on Monday’s awards show, where LL Cool J will be serving as host for the fifth straight year.

“Kendrick Lamar is going to do something very controversial,” the host added. “And that’s what art is about. It’s not about whether you agree or disagree, it’s about it stimulating conversation and provoking people to have conversations about society.”

Lamar’s album “To Pimp a Butterfly” is up for 11 awards at this year’s show, the most of any artist. Among the categories he’s nominated in are Album of the Year, Song of the Year, Best Rap Album, Best Rap Song and Best Rap Performance.

“I think it’ll be a lot of fun this year. I think people will be blown away,” LL added. “So many artists doing so many great things.”

The 58th Annual Grammy Awards will be broadcast live from the Staples Center in Los Angeles Monday, Feb. 15 at 8 p.m. ET on CBS.

Check local listings for other time zones, as music’s biggest night has the option of airing live on the west coast for the first time ever

Don't be making me jealous:ufdup:

And he's nominated for Best Rap Album and Best Rap Performance for Apparently. He'll probably lose both to K.Dot but this is, deservingly K.Dot's year, his best chance would be for Performance though

Elite Daily has it too close to call between Kendrick and Swift

This year’s nominees for Album of the Year are Sound & Color, Alabama Shakes; To Pimp A Butterfly, Kendrick Lamar; Traveller, Chris Stapleton; 1989, Taylor Swift and Beauty Behind The Madness, The Weeknd.

Who Will Win: To Pimp A Butterfly, Kendrick Lamar OR 1989, Taylor Swift

Nominated in the biggest category of the awards show, Kendrick Lamar’s To Pimp A Butterfly and Taylor Swift’s 1989 are top contenders for contrasting reasons.

To Pimp A Butterfly gained critical acclaim upon its March 2015 release, ushering Kendrick Lamar into 11 Grammy nominations this year. The album unfolds in a conversational manner, broaching with intensity the topic of racial prejudice and Lamar’s own struggle coming up in Compton. The album isn’t for the average listener simply looking to nod along to the more beat-driven sounds of “King Kunta,” but to hear, digest and attach to the connection Lamar’s trying to make. President Barack Obama found himself submerged in the depth of the album, naming “How Much A Dollar Cost” his favorite song of the year.

Taylor Swift’s 1989 brought an undeniable, pivotal shift in the singer’s career, redefining not only her image but her sound. Swift’s music has been on a path of evolution since her breakout year in country music in 2006, which isn’t uncommon for artists as they gain traction in the industry and define what works best for their brand. For Taylor, however, her rise to fame has been something of a rarity, as she’s not simply tweaked her sound but hopped genres — a bold but advantageous move for the pop star. Her album, 1989, was named the top-selling album at the close of 2014, and voters will have a hard time looking past its massive commercial success
