I don't mind Indy being bad, or having a poor outlook as long as there's a real plan to build a contender.

Since 2019 (post Luck) Colts have the best regular season record of any AFC South team:

Colts 56 Wins
Titans 50 wins
Texans 49 wins
Jags 41 Wins

They also are tied for 6th most wins in AFC.

Despite that, they are the only AFC South team with 0 division titles and 0 playoff wins.

Colts have managed to combine:

  • A lack of respect for 1st round picks (1st traded away for Buckner, 1st traded for Wentz, 2 firsts traded for Sauce)
  • Inability\Unwillingness to get a top 10 pick (Colts have had 3 top 10 picks since 2012: Luck, Nelson, AR)
  • Hatred of Free Agency (outside of QBs and this last off season)
  • Overreliance on FA QBs (majority of teams in playoff hunt right now are there with a QB they drafted)
  • "Meh" coaching from QB whisperers (Steichen, Reich)
  • "Meh" draft results

And as stated are the only AFC South team with no division titles and no playoff wins.

The #1 problem is Ballard's approach to team building. He acts like he's trying to maintain a championship contender vs build one. So they end up maintaining .500 status instead.

The Texans last night did everything this team could not do on the road at Arrowhead against a desperate Chiefs team coming off of a loss. A hard-nosed defense that can travel anywhere and while the offense was in flux, THEY DIDN’T ABANDON THE RUN.

I know it’s fukk Houston but that’s a really special defensive unit they got. I hope our team can play like that someday. Nobody in their right minds can call them soft. Nobody.

Steichen is a dumb motherfukker though, for real. Losing that Chiefs game told me all that there was about this team. They got loser, choker genes ingrained in their DNA and it’s gonna take a house cleaning to rid those traits.
