Its one of those ideas where everyone would be dissapoint by it because in their head they had different expectations vs what was presented

Its why you have people saying stuff like Black Republicans and Success are mid when I've never felt that about either record and thought they were good

Even "I do it for hip-hop" with Luda. It wasn't the best song but I liked the fact the both Nas and Hov had bars claiming they were the best. They stay competing

It's like rap, some just buzz, some will attack
Compromise their own life in fact
Sixteen years since my first sixteen
Pardon the rest of my nikkas... but I'm the best who's ever did it
- Nas

These other rappers couldn't wash my socks
That's why I took the number one slot
The realest shyt in rap comes from my voice box
- Jay Z

Yeah same that was a good record too.

Thank god those came out pre-twitter when it was just message boards and while they didnt set the world alight, I dont recall any hatred or massive delcearations of dissapointment.

This.

None of their collaborations have been what I've I expected, but "Black Republicans" felt epic without being over cooked or over done. It had a nice build up, dope concept, and Jay and Nas dropped a verse a piece and the song ends. I'm sure, it was expected that Kanye or Just would be producing the first post- beef Nas/Jay album, but it was produced by L.E.S., who produced some of Nas's most classic collaborations with other MC's.

Black Republican was a great song

“Huddlin' over the oven, we was like brothers then
Though you was nothin' other than a son of my mother's friend
We had governin', who would of thought the love would end
Like ice cold album, all good things
Neva thought we sing the same song that all hood sang”

Jiggas flow at this part :whew:

Nas was adlibbing over jay's verse and jay was adlibbing over nas' verse...Nas said "What?" after "mother's friend"....could blame "The Game"...Jay threw a sub at Game on this...both jay and nas said the chorus at the end

I hope no album comes from this song. That would be disastrous for social media and this website as a whole.

I been tried to tell nikkas for YEARS that Nas and Hov was cool and there were no issues but some of ya’ll just HAD to hold onto the conspiracy that Jay was sabotaging Nas’s release schedules and all that other stupid shyt.

These brothers are healthy competitors at worse, other than that they have a high level of respect for each other and put the bullshyt to the side YEARS ago during the I Declare War Concert. We’ve literally witnessed their reconciliation and maturation in real time.
Nahhhh. Hov releasing on the same days as Nas has been part of the “healthy competitors” that you’re speaking of..nobody can tell me different.

Do you think there's something big going on with that track + video and now the playlist ?
Maybe a full Nas x Hov project coming in the future ? :jbhmm:
i hear you, but i'm keeping my hopes tame in case we don't get a jay-nas album...it might just be a favor for khaled and is just a single without a full album..who knows? i think Nas' secret project still is about the firm and if jay gets invited to do the firm album, that would be cool...like if the firm and the commission joined forces...who was in the commission? BIG, diddy, cease, charli baltimore, un...yeah those guys wouldn't be it -- maybe get puff to do some adlibs but that's it...not sure if diddy has any more BIG verses left in the vault or if he even have those in acapella form....just get jay to feature on the next firm album...it'll be lucky lefty, escobar, sosa..did dre, nature, cormega, and foxy get a firm moniker? they invited mary j to the firm and some other people on mixtapes back in the day like femme fatale, pretty boy, DJ clue, etc
