Why did people think he phoned this in?

There's this thing Nas and his recording engineer(s) have been doing since King’s Disease , where he’ll lay down multiple takes, and the engineer ends up stitching them together. You can clearly hear it: different volume levels, vocal inflections, even shifts in energy, like it’s a totally different take dropped into the verse. Or it might be that shyt that Lil' Wayne does. Record, stop, record, hear it back, record, stop, take it back, record.

For example, on this track, the line “And that rings loud, and reverberates” sounds spliced in. The volume and tone of his voice noticeably shift. And there are several moments like that throughout the verse. It just ends up sounding disjointed.

Y'all stans tell his team that.

You are worried about that more than any of us. He is still the greatest rapper of all time, so it doesn’t matter.

NY all day..Da Stead & BK..
I’ll do you one better and say KDIII and Magic clear LIG and KD2 and Magic3 are just as good
They don't clear LIG especially with the bonus tracks. But I feel u. And as far as The Truth. I love that shyt and he was spitting like a muthafukka. But shyt he was doing in 2012 like Nasty, Triple Beam Dream etc etc. He just SOUNDED sharper and I'm not even saying he doesn't sound sharp now. It's just a slight difference.
