I don't think he's punching in rather than doing multiple takes and they splice the verses with the best takes. Mega punches in cause he can't really ride the beat like that. Lol.

I started noticing it around LIG, maybe a little after? I can't pinpoint exactly when but when it happened it was clear af to me. It's crazy that most fans don't even notice stuff like that when they're listening.

Yeah, rap isn't really his life like that anymore, he's got so much other things going on so he's writing and memorizing and recording probably all in the same session type shhit, it's a lot...especially for someone who admits they be forgetting their shhit. But fukk it, most fans ears aren't trained to notice all the punching and editing and shhit so it's all G, they probably don't even know what we're talking about, lol.

It’s not that we may not notice it from time to time. I actually notice it with several rappers. It’s just not a big deal. Especially rappers that have been rapping that long.

He has trouble remembering his shhit. Why would you think I’m trolling by saying that? He messes up a lot. Instead of taking it from the top each time they just punch in where he left off, etc… He was notorious for often messing up bars at his live shows as well, he’s been improving on that apparently. It’s no disrespect to the greatest, that’s my dog…his memory is shhit tho, as he’s said himself lol

That part about the live performance is not true anymore for about a decade now. I've seen him several times live and he don't messes up lines like he used to. And that's impressive considering his age, the number of songs he got and the length and complexity of certain verses. And he's doing all that without back up too

As for the process of recording. He said that he started to took a more simplier and direct approach to spit his rhymes. He wrote on the phone and redo his lines as the song goes on.

Personnaly it don't bothers me. Like you said only 5% of the listeners are gonna catch that. As long as the song is good thats all that really matter

I wonder if it's also an age thing. I'm enough to have been a Nas fan since like '96/97, so my generation of Nas stans have been through:

- the Nastradamus fall-off
- the post-Summer Jam pre-Ether months where a lot of people thought Jay buried him

Fighting for Nas rep in those days was like being in the trenches compared to modern Nas discussions which come down to...is he more relevant than Jim Jones, his verses sometimes have akward editing, should he still be rocking those half-dreads.

I think younger Esco fans take these modern slights more serious
