If you already played Final Fantasy VII maybe not. You can just YouTube the differences.
I never played any of these type of games lol. The closest I've played to this was Kingdom hearts 3
I mean this game is a direct continuation of events from the previous game with no real refresher. If you don't mind feeling a bit lost at first Remake is skipable or another option is to watch a YouTube summary of Remake.

Personally I'd say play Remake first. It's not necessary, but it makes the experience much more enjoyable if you play Remake first.

You right breh. Even when I played kh3 I was completely lost I just got it because I thought it was cool af to play on all those Disney worlds. But i didn't know what was going on. I'm sure it will be the same with this lol. These games just ain't really my thing but I wanted to try something different

Its not like ff7 remake is that old, you should want to play it.
And a much tighter experience.
What the hell man, go play the original FF7. That game is in everyone's top 5 JRPG
Heard part 3 may not be totally open world 
Cannot wait for part 3, I also think why I'm not so bothered by the extra content/story twists is I've never completed the original game so I'm not a purist when it comes to the story the way I see others online are.
