Do any of the ladies work out during ramadan? If so how do you handle this? I dont know if my body will be able to handle it after fasting all day. I dont want to lose my current body or gains. My legs and stomach are toned as hell and my booty sitting up. :(

for the past 3 years i have not eaten or drank while the sun was above me.
granted, i often travel far south or north to ease the burden but i stay true year round.

Southern Argentina or Chile in the latter months, within the Arctic Circle otherwise.

I gain weight because I go to the gym and work out

most people gain weight if they binge eat afterwards (which you are not supposed to do)

but ramadan isnt about losing weight tbh, that neglects the true reward (inner peace, discipline and humility)

nikka how do you work out during Ramadan?

I mean, I know once you break your fast you can eat and drink but you can't hit your daily goal of calories in that short span of time until it's sunrise again. Plus the gym gotta close too lol

@Cold Blooded @Kotal Kahn @DIMES @SCORCH @Ria_21 @RawlDough

From what I've experienced, it's all in the Suhoor (the meal prior to starting the fast).

Stay away from excessively sugary or salty foods as they only make you thirsty. Foods like yogurt, avocados, beans and leafy vegetables are all great. Don't worry too much about chugging a bunch of water; there's only so much you can hold. It's easier to stay away from foods that will dehydrate you. Hide from the sun as much as you can, if possible. Water retention is the most important thing.

I'm hoping to shift my gym schedule to the last hour of the day before breaking my fast. I know it seems crazy, but you'd be surprised. Get there, do your workout, and when it's time break your fast with some water and a protein bar or something.

If anyone has anything to add regarding diet, routines, etc., please share!

The other 11 months when you work out, in between exercises or sets you drink water. Not having the ability to do that, no having a pre-workout meal, isn't working out pointless this month?

As I said in an earlier post, I'm gonna take it easier this Ramadan. You won't be able to work out to full capacity it is simple not possible. And if you somehow manage, it will do damage to your body because you won't be getting the same calories post-workout and the limited time for consumption ruins it all.

I'm not gonna be doing weights this time around (though you can do so, just do it lighter, more reps and generally take it easier). I'm gonna be doing calisthenics 30-min timed just BEFORE I break fast. Gonna do it every alternate day. Just body weight. Normally my goal on a usual day is to do 100 of pushups, pull-ups, dips and squats in 30 mins, now maybe lessen it to 50-60 of each.

That's my personal plan.

But you could also eat light before and then get a workout in and then eat big afterwards. If you reside in a country with less fasting hours, you can get away with working out sometime later after fasting. The extra 4 hours or so I get in Jordan to eat/drink allows me to do that, but now in the UK I can't afford that so I'm trying to fit the workout in beforehand.
