This is the thing, The Thunder can't trade Westbrook (unless he wants to be traded to a certain team) because Westbrook won't sign an extension with any team, unless he wants to be there. That makes it hard to trade Westbrook, because teams will be reluctant to gut their team, for a one year rental.

I think Westbrook eventually is a Laker. But if I'm the Lakers I wait until he is a free agent.

Because the lakers front office is known for being sensible when it comes to situations like this.
