This is the thing, The Thunder can't trade Westbrook (unless he wants to be traded to a certain team) because Westbrook won't sign an extension with any team, unless he wants to be there. That makes it hard to trade Westbrook, because teams will be reluctant to gut their team, for a one year rental.

I think Westbrook eventually is a Laker. But if I'm the Lakers I wait until he is a free agent.

If Presti is smart, do the trade with the Lakers. Westbrook wants to be there, they could pull Brandom Ingram who's play is virtually IDENTICAL to Durant's when he entered the league as well as with the height and length and get a couple of draft picks along with it and start anew.
