I co-sign Unc and Sir. I got called that shyt too recently and I questioned myself if they were talking to me? Of course they were. :flabbynsick:
I'll add when people 18 - 31 or so start looking like 12 year old's. Why this little kid working at the bank?

One of my best friends used to make all kinds of dated references as we hit 30, and used to tell him to watch his audience, these girls don't know what the fukk you are talking about, making Air Force One (1997) jokes

Think that is one of the signs, as you think everyone is the same age as you, and knows all the old references. which brings me to,

at 37, you can just look around and KNOW you aren't that young anymore, when you see younger people. You are no longer at the forefront of the culture, youth, whatever, it isn't you anymore. They talk different, think different, act different. And you have to accept this, because those same younger people will be in your position.

you have to keep present, learn new things, experience new things, or you will be that old man ranting about the way things were.
Gen X that grew up with Hip Hop are now the first generation aging into it.
Nas turns 50 this year...first heard him as a HS sophomore
We're setting the template for the ones after us. What's sad is fellow Gen Xers not embracing their age and the wisdom that comes with it and trying to keep up with the youth in dress, slang, and being the old man in the club status
I'm not saying let's sit around and stay trapped in the 90s
Instead let's have strive for a balance, like I posted I force myself to listen to new music (and find myself liking less than half of it) because otherwise I'll just bang Nas Mobb Deep and Wu all day and yell at clouds

all good points

There's a good quote about the easiest way to look old is to dress young, might be Tom Ford

Have my younger homies to put me on, and young women, but none of them would say I come off old and out of touch, you are supposed to learn from each other, but also I'm not trying to be 27 again, so some stuff I pass on. Wearing SUPER baggy jeans, nah. Wearing crocs. Nah.

embracing ignorance is like embracing stagnation, don't need to know or love everything new, but choosing to be stuck is never a good look.

I had the interns with me recently and they both were born in 2001 after 9/11. That info hit my heart sideways. They didn't understand not one 90s/2000s movie or TV show reference I made.
:mjcry:

that’s a good one…my students went from :russ: and:lolbron: at my jokes/references to :dwillhuh: and:unimpressed:

I remember I announced we’d be watching a film from the 80s…this had to be some time after 2010…this white girl asked if the movie was in black and white…I thought she was trying to joke me but she was serious as hell :mjlol:

I went down a rabbit hole looking for an impact wrench and started watching videos of this dude doing torque tests with different impact wrenches. :dead:
I just did the same, settled on this and honestly one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. Changed a rusty subframe and whole front end on this car and didn’t even drain the battery fully
