1) They only have so many interceptors. Hamas and Hezbollah were light work for Iron Dome, but now they’re to the point that they can’t just light up the sky and knock everything down.
This is also why you see Iran rationing their resources. They also only have so many missiles. They’ve studied the weaknesses and can make better decisions on where to target/get Israel to waste interceptors.
2) Israel decided to go with a pretty bold plan:
Civilian deaths from interceptions shifts public opinion against you. Civilian deaths from direct hits by the enemy galvanizes public support for retaliatory strikes.
3) Other countries (including the US) are using their resources to help knock down missiles but they can only do so much……
Recipe for disaster in the short term for Israel. But the longer this goes on, the more support BiBi gets, the longer no elections or trials, the higher level of retaliation they can impose on Iran.
