no, but its a big deal. it means their ability to take hostages on the water like before is damn near gone and im still shocked they didn't lead with holding captives at an embassy or something

iirc the strait is like 50km wide at its skinniest point - putting much of the land based missiles and drones in play.

thing is, they can't really use a launch site repeatedly. the means they have to protect launch sites is basically gone since the 12 day war when it was clear that iran couldn't maintain dominance over their own air space. that's a main reason why the volume of attacks to start this all off was such a big deal for iran - if they didn't unload everything the could, the opportunities to launch stuff later wasn't exactly guaranteed to be there.

plus after the houthi shyt, most modern navies that tagged along have seen everything that iran would be ready to use. unless iran is like..... willing to burn the few hypersonics they've teased on a fukking oil tanker or something absurd

I refuse to believe the US is actually low in ammunition.

It's not a topic they want to openly discuss but it became mainstream when Trump and Co. cut Ukraine's spigot off. Then the bombing in June and re-supplying of Israel had people openly inquiring about it, to now looking at the scale of the campaign.

It's not a critical shortage (at least yet) but it could have operational impact (a long pause in strikes).
