Interesting counterinuitive article from the Economist here: Fierce hardliners are grabbing power in Iran

TLDR, they are arguing that the military and IRGC specifically have taken power from the Ayatollah and are more likely to favour a sprint to bomb while relaxing social rules. People underestimate how popular an Iranian state that is less religiously inclined but nationalistic will be among their general population.
I'm curious, what about this article do you find counterintuitive? It's mishmash of author's perception of current events along with the informed conventional analysis of post Khamenei Iran. Indirect military rule is very much the natural progression of Iran given the IRGC's position.

I thought it was counterintuitive because I haven’t seen anyone else argue that the war has already transitioned Iran to that long speculated post Khameni future. I agree it was always the most likely end result, but it would be interesting if the war actually accelerated the process.
