I'm curious, what about this article do you find counterintuitive? It's mishmash of author's perception of current events along with the informed conventional analysis of post Khamenei Iran. TLDR, they are arguing that the military and IRGC specifically have taken power from the Ayatollah and are more likely to favour a sprint to bomb while relaxing social rules. People underestimate how popular an Iranian state that is less religiously inclined but nationalistic will be among their general population.
I thought it was counterintuitive because I haven’t seen anyone else argue that the war has already transitioned Iran to that long speculated post Khameni future.
