Because when I used to work with an x that was into building personal and biz credit, I never seen a chase signature visa offer less than 5k.

Chase Freedom Credit Limit & Benefits (2021) — Pre-Qualify Online - CardRates.com

" Credit Karma data suggests the Chase Freedom cards seem to typically offer a respectable initial limit averaging around $3,000.

More specifically, about 20% of Chase Freedom Flex℠ cardholders reported limits in the $300 to $1,000 range, and another 20% of users obtained limits above $5,000. In general, it appears the minimum limit to be $300, while the maximum limit is around $20,000, although one reviewer reports receiving an initial $24,000 limit."

Of the ones I keep in daily rotation:
  • Amex Green (downgraded from Platinum when the pandemic hit)
  • Wells Fargo Amex Propel
  • Citi Double Cash
  • Discover It
  • Amex Blue Cash Everyday
  • Goldman Sachs Apple Card
  • Amazon Visa
  • Uber Visa
  • Amex Cash Magnet
The Amex Green card was my primary but I just recently got the WF Propel and the points categories really fit my lifestyle so I’m thinking of making it my go to :ehh:

I didn’t plan on traveling and I didn’t wanna pay the annual fee. It has enough perks I could’ve justified keeping it but I can always upgrade it later on down the line
Maybe I just need to look into AMEX more. I see people talk about all the benefits but then I see a $500 dollar annual fee and

@winb83 what do you think about Amex

I might reach $2K worth of Chase points by the time I can actually travel again.

I've always just kept one VISA debit card and one VISA credit card :yeshrug:

Can't be bothered to keep track of a bunch of other credit cards I don't need

If the fees are offset by your spending habits and lifestyle then they can end up being worth it. For example with the Plat card there’s a monthly Uber credit for like...$15 I think, where you can either use it for rides or Uber Eats. So it’s $15 a month and I think $20 in December, so that’s about a $200 value out of the $550 annual fee right there. It can kinda pay for itself depending on how you live, but if I’m being real I signed up for it in my early 20’s without really considering the fee or caring and i don’t really travel like that either which is the main perk of having it, the allure of having the card and its spending power drew me in. A bit foolish but I was young so live and learn :manny: I would prefer to just cash out my points and close the account at this point but I don’t want my score to take a hit so I compromised and downgraded it instead.

TLDR: Generally speaking I’d avoid cards with annual fees unless your spending habits can offset them and you’re able to reap the perks they come with
