The problem with the "Sixers are better off now" argument is that it's based on best case scenarios. That was my biggest gripe with The Process, it was totally reliant on optimism and everything working out perfectly.

The player the sixers pick in June could turn out to be a total bust. Embiid hasn't played in two years and people are basing his potential off what he did in half a season of good play in kansas. Saric basically has to be the next Dirk to justify all his hype, and there are rumors that he doesn't want to play for the sixers and may stay in europe until his rights expire. I remember when people were mad Noel was getting compared to Theo Ratliff. 3 yrs into his career and it's looking like a long shot that he will ever make an ASG like ratliff did. And Okafor is basically Al Jefferson with off the court issues. Never mind the traded overhyped players like MCW and KJ McDaniels.

Newflash guys.....that best case scenario shyt has been a L so far. So all people can do is double down and convince themselves the sixers will win the lottery , no pun, and pick someone who turns out to be KD/Lebron level. Been trying that the last 3-4 yrs, but good luck

As far as the Jrue, Iggy, Thad team being mediocre .....they went to the 2nd round in 2011. The raptors who were just in the finals weren't even in the playoffs that year and didn't make the playoffs until two years later. The raptors have no legit bonafide franchise player on a lebron or kd level. Just a bunch of all stars (borderline allstars) in Lowry and Derozan and pieces around them like Valacunias, Bizmack, and Carroll. So basically the raptors went from a team that was worst than the sixers to the ECF and the second best team in the east during the time the sixers have been tanking. :mjlol:
with no tier 1 superstar mind you. Just through building a cohesive team and making smart decisions

Theoretically it's possible that the Iggy/Jrue sixers could have been in the same position with a couple of more moves(and not the dumb bynum trade). It's not like that team had salary cap issues. Also remember they trade Mo Harkless who is better than any current Sixer perimeter player and Vucevic who honestly probably better than both Noel and Okafor. And if we are going to apply the best case scenario to the worst team in the league Sixers why can't you apply to that 2011 team that had an upward trajectory?
God forbid the sixers draft Ingram and he turns out to be Al Harrington 2.0, then it'll be about the player yall going be getting in 2018 :whew:

Are you sure about that? The Knicks have been attempting to stay Mediocre since they traded away Patrick Ewing.

Where has that left them? The 76ers have actually had better players come through, a more recent finals appearance and a much better core than we have. Do the 76ers have historically bad seasons under their belt? Sure, but at least they have something in return. The Knicks have NOTHING, The Nets have NOTHING.

It does not pay to stay mediocre. Did you learn ANYTHING from Flip Saunders and what he did with the Timberwolves? That core can be SCARY in about 3-4 years. They MIGHT win 50 games NEXT YEAR.
this comment right there, I agree.

There are TONS and TONS of mediocre treadmill nba stories. Bunch of teams trading away their picks and signing low ceiling players hoping to win now. Pelicans just fukked it all up hoping to quickly give Davis a good team. Wizards been trading their picks away and signing bunch of low ceiling guys like Nene, Gortat. They had one hot year and now with the mix of injuries they are coming back to where they started when they drafted John Wall and Beal.
I can kind of understand the nets idea, they had a plan, at least, rather than doing nothing. They thought to go all in, too bad they were like a year too late in trading for KG and Pierce and then they realized that Joe Johnson and Deron had no leadership abilities at all.

Knicks been rushing moves forever, their big market fans hate losing and ownership always makes bad moves too quick. Two recent tankings that knicks did gave them good results and something to cheer for. Especially the last years tanking now that it landed Porzingis they finally have the really valuable piece, and he could end up being best knicks player since ewing, which says A LOT

They have zero clue. This nikka @Damnshow calling Nene and Gortat low ceiling. nikka, these two were raw when they enter the NBA and are now starters or rotation players, that's players improving and they made a massive difference to Washington. Hell, I would know, I go to Wizards games. I seen the team IN Washington before they added the vets.

man you are fukking stupid, typical overreaction comment trying to sound smart and then giving a ridiculous example. golden state were building their team with curry, klay and other picks because they knew what was theirs potential, they knew when drafting that these guys had enormous potential at shooting to the basket.

so far sixers only traded MCW from their picks who had no talent in scoring when scoring in todays league for a guard is very important. And you somehow compare this team with the example of blowing up golden state team few years ago :dead:

What shyt you dont understand? Sixers had NOBODY with superstar potential before the tanking, they decided to tank to try and draft a superstar because by simply playing competitive 9th-8th seed mediocre basketball would have barely landed them a superstar because history tells you that players in 10th-20th picks category very rarely turn into the superstars

because washington needed one more year to draft another good player, instead they signed few win now players real quick who were playing in their peak, this what I meant by low ceiling, a low ceiling is when you sign players who dont have more room to improve their game, players who are nearly or in their 30s and who are not all stars.

Now you got washington missing playoffs because beal cant stay healthy and nene with gortat getting older and older. You settle for less, thats it.

This is what these cats don't get. I'd rather wait for potential than running in place.

nikka, I go to the games too. They had to make those moves, Wall wasn't improving. This ain't a fukking video game you stupid ass nikka. You need to play with vets and decent and good ones at that to develop. Saying they needed one more bad year wasn't what they needed at all. They couldn't develop anyone in the draft because everyone trying to learn the game and they all trying to get their own as well and make a name for themselves. Young players for the most part are mentally immature. In todays NBA, you have to have young players mixed with vets. Flip realized where he went wrong in Washington and in Minny, he keep vets mixed with young players so they can develop.

This ain't a video game you stupid ass nikka. Real life, personality, age, roles, fits all play a critical role.

You saying that now but what makes them that much different than Atlanta, Memphis and Toronto. Dennis is massively improving. Sap, Teague and Horford keep improving. Bazemore was a 12 man and now is going to get offers for 12-15 and develop into a solid NBA player. Hardaway Jr looked good in the 2nd half of the season. Big Val showEd he could be a top 5 big next year. DeRozan gained more confidence. Lowry saw what it took to get here and he is hungry for more.

Gasol is healthy next year and was a top 3 big the year before. Conley is improving.

All of these teams like Golden in 2014 has a blight future as players you aren't even thinking about are developing. What was Draymond Green in 2014? David Lee's backup. Man, shut the fukk up.

So why they couldnt find cheaper price veteran players who would be great mentors? Flip had cheaper price veterans mentoring these young wolves so they could play lots of minutes while team being able to win another high draft pick. A great mentor doesnt have to be a veteran player who plays 30 minutes per game in a win now situation, it can be veteran who plays lesser minutes and is in there keeping locker room great while giving more playing minutes to their future guys. And at least they could have hired a better coach, wittman was one of the worst coaches in the league.

I understand that you need veterans for young players thats why my first comment in here said that I was concerned that sixers tanking could have brought them losing culture as their tanking lacked veteran guys mentoring them. BUT wizards signing Nene and Gortat meant this team was content finishing their rebuilding at that moment and trying to win as many games as possible right now, you dont sign these expensive guys just to help the young guys to build them mentally stronger. If they hired cheaper veterans and let Beal and Wall play their minutes while generating another high pick they would have drafted another high potential guy and then they should have ended their rebuilding process and started hiring win now pieces. They pulled the trigger year too soon.
