Oladipo is still young. And he's talented, something Orlando is severely lacking on the wings. Especially defensively.
I hate when I hear Gordon moves to the 3. He can't play the 3. He's a poor mans Blake. His 3 point range is below average, and to add to that, it's a set 3. He can't shoot of the dribble. He can't create his own shot. (Something Vic excelled at) He can't really do anything effectively by putting the ball on the floor. I wish he'd just concentrate on being a 4 and let it be.
Ibaka on the other hand said in his exit interview after the Thunder got knocked out of the playoffs that this was his most frustrating season because he couldn't just concentrate on being a post player. The thunder wanted him to expand his range and get out there and shoot threes. He didn't want to be more perimeter oriented, the team did. I don't think Orlando asks that of him. I think they want him on the block, having Vucci's back in the paint.
There better be more moves made.
Hezonja and Fournier are young too, and Hezonja definitely needs more playing time.
Gordon isn't going to be playing the 3 though, only defending it, offensively he will still be right around the rim where he belongs. Look at all the PF's you've had over the years, they are clearly going to use Ibaka for floor spacing purposes on offense, which leaves room for Gordon to operate with. There's nothing that stops Gordon from basically playing PF on offense, that's how the Thunder were using Roberson, crashing the rim while Ibaka was outside. They aren't trading for Ibaka to give him a ton of post touches, he'll be used the same, maybe a couple post touches here and there but he's predominately a shooter now.
I think this move makes them a playoff team, there's more floor balance and they finally get some defensive help for Vucci, and even if Ibaka has taken a step back he's still better defensively than anything you could have gotten in FA outside of the Al Horford hail mary hope.
