That's a bullshyt philosophy to have in today's time because minimum wage and a 40 hr work week still equals poverty. I will agree there are a lot of millennials with a self entitled attitude but to grab any job and work iT JUST BECAUSE is a dumb philosophy.
Real talk. The US dollar is worth a lot less than it was in the 1960s and as a result people can no longer LIVE at the lower end of the spectrum. Additionally, the manufacturing and union jobs that helped build the middle class are GONE.

People are working. And they're working very hard and still coming up short. If you don't believe me go to Walmart on any third shift and you see all kinds of people working and for some of them that is their second job.

There are elderly and disabled people working because their retirement or disability doesn't add up.

In Arizona people with college degrees are bombarding Albertsons for cashier jobs.

Care to elaborate?:jbhmm:

Actually I take that back, China, Brazil, India etc are experiencing real growth in some areas. Even if there is a huge gap in those countries between the rich and poor , the reality is that the standard of living has increased across the board and increased exponentially for a select group.

I'm alluding to the fact these countries are essentially following the US blue print for development, when we now see it's not really sustainable.

It's only going to get worse too.

We are potentially sitting on MULTIPLE bubbles right now: housing bubble (again :snoop:), tech bubble, and a student loan bubble. On top of that you have developing countries creating the illusion of growth but it's a house of cards essentially (see: chinese economy).

And the automation revolution ain't even hit us yet :sas2:.

I honestly don't know what to tell people, I'm in STEM and even I know long term (30-40 yrs) my prospects ain't all that. Some fakkit will probably come up with a way to automate writing domain specific software soon, they already trying with web design with that lame squarespace shyt :sadbron:

Automation gonna force the economy to cut basic income checks for the sake of saving capitalism.

My question is where the US economy is heading in 20 years? This student loan bubble is growing fast. Wages are not rising fast enough. The cost of living is rising fast. You have cities and states are running deficits they cant long term afford. shyt is gonna be ugly in 25 years. Blacks folks need to prepare for when shyt gets real here.

shyt been real since we got here. White folks fukk up we get caught up in the mix some how.

Houston to LA like I'm Robert Horry.
Good degree, good GPA, good experience and it's still hell finding a job :mjcry:

I got laid off a couple months ago and I thought the interviews would line up now with the experience. Nope:mjcry:

Got a job interview with a company in LA and though relative to the cost of living in Houston its a downgrade , I'm thinking of taking it, if they offer it :sadcam:

Jesus christ. The conversations I used to have with my mom when I could not get a job. She talmbout dressing nice and showing up 15 minutes early.

You know what showing up 15 minutes early to interviews get you nowadays? A 25 minute wait, cause they are busy and they will move you to another
room just to have you wait a few more minutes.

I wish I could just walk into places, tell them I am interested, and be told "Ok, come back Monday." Nowadays you get told *while in the establishment* that

you have to apply online. Not only that, but background checks, unless they rush them, can have you waiting a few weeks for a callback...IF they call you back.

One job I worked, I was hired, but nobody called me back. I had to call in to get the offer for employment:dahell:

In a lot of ways, the last few generations had it fukking easy. They left a pile of shyt for us 20-30 somethings, and blame us for it:rudy:
I get you. There's a ton of truth to what you're saying.

But we really blaming the worker bees for how the Queen running the hive?

Teachers made it sound so easy back in grade school. Moving out, Picking College, Degree, Jobs.

Teachers Made it seem like College was the answer to everything before HS :dahell:

HS teachers looking :dahell: when they see people talking about going to big schools and then looking at the gradebook:dahell:

None of em told till highschool you need a certain SAT/GPA/ACT to get in the schools, plus cost, plus a degree doesnt guarantee a job :dahell:

Nowadays you Going through 3 interviews just to get a Job :dahell:

People wasting 40K on Degrees only to be told its not enough or there arent many job markets :dahell:

I agree with you, but these millenials are lazy and entitled. Anybody that really wants a job can get one. It may not be your ideal job/situation, but I don't have sympathy for people who bytch about not being able to get a job. Thats BS.

nikka, you talking like affirmative action still exist like it did in 1998.
shyt been changed since the original fall of the internet in 2000-2001.

One its all said and done. Baby boomers will go down and the most selfish generation in our history.

However. Alot of millienials are spoiled and entitled brats.

Hard to draw where the line is exactly.
