Jesus christ. The conversations I used to have with my mom when I could not get a job. She talmbout dressing nice and showing up 15 minutes early.

You know what showing up 15 minutes early to interviews get you nowadays? A 25 minute wait, cause they are busy and they will move you to another
room just to have you wait a few more minutes.

I wish I could just walk into places, tell them I am interested, and be told "Ok, come back Monday." Nowadays you get told *while in the establishment* that

you have to apply online. Not only that, but background checks, unless they rush them, can have you waiting a few weeks for a callback...IF they call you back.

One job I worked, I was hired, but nobody called me back. I had to call in to get the offer for employment

In a lot of ways, the last few generations had it fukking easy. They left a pile of shyt for us 20-30 somethings, and blame us for it

Truth. You gotta tap-dance, and shuck n jive just so you can MAYBE get an interview now days. I always dress up so I can wait. Then have some happy smiling White lady with her "Yeah-hu, Yeah-hu" email a week, sometimes two weeks later telling me I didn't get the job. Frustrating....

I agree with you, but these millenials are lazy and entitled. Anybody that really wants a job can get one. It may not be your ideal job/situation, but I don't have sympathy for people who bytch about not being able to get a job. Thats BS.

I applied at a shoe factory, walmart, ANY retail store, ANY large grocery chain, and still rejections and no call-backs....It's not like I'm applying for the CEO position at Apple. Fact of the matter is, nowadays you gotta know somebody to even work at McDonalds. This country is larger than ever before, and basic jobs just aren't guaranteed to people anymore. You gotta work harder to get work.....

Honestly, I've walked into a job filled out an application and asked to give it to the manager. I'm sure a lot of the people let whoever is working there take it and throw it in a desk. Got the job and started the same week. I've seen people go into interviews with jeans on and show up right on time expecting to get hired. Be early

I call and damn near harass the people and send thank you letters. Most of the people hiring you are of older age, they appreciate that kind of stuff. Just because you carefully crafted your linkdn page and blocked your FB doesn't mean shyt nowadays. I'm not disagreeing with you , but there's a happy medium.

I've tried to harassment route. They told me not to call back, and that THEY'LL call me back if I got the job. I'm starting to believe that whole "Just keep calling them" stuff is BS. It really is. If they don't want to hire you, THEY WONT. And calling back 100 times won't change that.

I cosign and I say that with a decent job now. When I first moved back to my hometown I was applying for dishwasher, housekeeping, janitor and it nothing for me...ended up lying on a application and got a call center job after forever with no legal funds comin in











but now we eatin, nice crib, ridibg foreign and a great woman

AND ANOTHER THING!!! All that get dressed up stuff is BS. I dress up quite nicely to ALL my interviews. I get a haircut, trim the beard, put on slacks and dress shoes, dress shirt with a tie, with a cardigan over it. It doesn't really matter. If those folks for whatever reason don't wanna hire you, they won't.

True because typically the only person answering the phone has no part in hiring.You are talking to a cashier/receptionist/service agent and they cant help you.


Same thing with "go in and introduce yourself to the manager" ..just try that abd see how annoyed they look


because you just took them from their busy work.

Unless she plans on doing doc review for 50k a year while railing lines of crushed Vyvamse to keep her morale up and dodging the banks she borrowed from, I don't think you realise how bad it is out there.

There are schools with less than 40% employment
Including Brooklyn Law School

Where did she go to law school. That's a major factor

There are a few T-14 guys in there who were near the bottom of their class, or who missed 2L SA, but its mostly T-30 and down guys, people who went to "the best school in their state" and who they "had alumni connections" with.
