he never got played on Video Music Box

and when i think about it on a National level
his videos never was played on YO MTV Raps or Rap City
he was never on the cover if The Source Mag & anytime he was mention it was a them shytting on him

Listen, the only people that considered him hiphop was kids & old people that knew no better

him & Vanilla Ice was looked at as jokes and got zero respect from their peers

I wouldn't say it was stupid. The mainstream didn't fukk with hip-hop so the feeling was mutual. It's kinda like if someone at school or work obviously don't like you....most people wouldn't care to associate with them. And the few people that did go out of their way to be nice to someone like that would probably be seen as clowns.

Same goes for hip-hop and the mainstream. 99.99% of the shyt back then wasn't getting mainstream radio or video play....going out of your way to gain mainstream acceptance was seen as some sucker shyt.

Absolutely. Remember how we felt when mtv started FINALLY playing mj and Prince. It was like not sure I can trust u. Then they started playing rap and acts like Hammer dominated. It wasn’t til Yo mtv raps that is wasn’t straight sucker shyt to be mainstream. And even then..

This is false...."Turn This Mutha Out" and "Let's Get It Started" got play on both shows. I think a couple of his others did too....although his later more overt pop shyt didn't.

The general consensus is Hammer had a major stage show and had hit records. He never sampled a pop group. Biggest record You cant touch this is a Super Freak sample. Thats as black as you can get.
