From Around The Way
Even though i agree with the point you're trying to make going gold in 3 months wasn't really special back in 96
No Limit D-lister were going gold with no problem back then
going gold did indeed mean something. i dont think alot of yall realize just how many rappers had deals, albums and were buzzing back then. alot of guys never saw a plaque.
no limit was a whole nother monster to itself. you cant compare what they did to the average rapper. plus no limit wasnt doing that in '96. that was '98-99. no limit jumpstarted the boom period.
It was Flash and the Furious Five but they replayed it.
I remember that thread from your tournament well
They were both dope. But Mall was on another level
Did anyone really consider Priority an independent back then?
I thought of them as a major since some Bay Area rappers were signing to them and in the Bay it was a big deal if you stayed independent as opposed to going to a major
lol. i had treacherous three on the brain. sorry.
yea i like celly cell & mac mall but i agreed with buddy's point.
celly cel made "its goin down tonight" tho. so i take him over mac mall/
i dont think priority was an independent. i think it was just the type of deals that were giving out to some of these labels like rocafella & especially no limit.
