I remember some cac wore a starter jacket to class in Middle School. Boy them boys went IN on his ass :banderas:

So bad the teacher had to stand up for him on some "Yall need to stop, yall know it was a point where people used to get killed for those jackets, jokes on you"

Still was funny tho :mjlol:

When was this, 1999? :heh:

I don't know about violence but the gang shyt was stupid as hell. Especially back then everyone was on the west coasts dikk and tried to emulate the gang style there.

even if you were neutral you had to watch out.
Was LA bacc then like how Chiraq is now? As far as influence, like everyone claiming there gangs n shyt

:what: I thought dark skin nikkas got the juice by the early 90s

I know light skin nikkas had the 80s on lock.....

EDIT: My bad, I forgot there was a transition period.....the NJS era still had light dudes with S-curl hair hot.....them Christopher Williams lookin' dudes. But by the mid-to-late 90s the transition was complete

light skin nikkas ALWAYS got the juice

I think a lot of people misunderstand the prosperity of the 90's. Literally if you were making 50k your ass was doing GOOD. You buy a house, have a car note, even a kid, and still not be POOR. Resources were more widespread and the middle-class was staunch.

BUT certain luxuries were expensive as fukk in the 90's. Gaming in particular was a VERY expensive habit. Carts got up to around $60 new consoles were around $500 on average (And this is in the 90's). People were killing for Jordans and starter jackets, Crack was still a thing..so there's that :manny:

300 murders a year
def the the gang shyt. and this was while i was part of it myself

which is why i look at dudes now like :dahell: when they try to tell me about how gully things are on they block, and i walk down these blocks that shyt damn near like leave it to beaver, people saying "what up fam" you can pretty much go into any neighborhood and as long as you not on no dumb shyt, you will be good.

but in the 90s? in chicago?

every where you went it was a group of dudes packed on corners flashing rakes and 5's and treys to you, you respond wrong, you get chased

watch how your hat is broke off, i remember going into terror town to see this chick and getting hemmed up at a corner store cause my hat was broke off slightly to the right, which in fact i spent damn near the whole bus ride over there trying to make sure my hat was straight smh :snoop:

the wars on the boulevard. (55th garfield) and the countless times being chased from moe town by a group of kids waiting in the alley and the same damn set up. its one kid sitting on the corner, he sees you and your friend going to the store, he yelling at you talking shyt you pop back, he opens his arms up like what yall go do, me and my friend come over to beat the kids ass, he runs to the alley, gives a bird call, next thing you know its 40 kids coming out the alley chasing you back across the boulevard. :snoop:

could never wear red when i was a fan of unlv rebels and georgia gear.

the adventure it was taking the 63rd st bus home from school and getting your bus attacked at every over corner smh

having to ask the chicks you dealing with "how them dudes act on your block" before you go visit her.

so glad that bs is over.

These Kids
I know alot of people love the 90s, for the music to the fashion to the entertainment, but what were some things you disliked about the decade?
Gang Wars between Los Solidos and Latin Kings and Hood Traps. Cats always wanted to roll on you. Couldn't step in the wrong side of the hood without getting jumped and robbed.
Sometimes you'll hear about a friend getting caught in the mix and not making it.
Luckily most of us knew what to watch out for. A few of us just wanted to be apart of something that they'd never get out of.
