So white kids don't count? Its not just buying, its downloading, discussing, debating the music. It's mostly younger people.

I mean look at the booth, its 95% people under 30 years old
I didn't say they didn't count now you putting words in my mouth. Did I say that in my response? If I did please show me.

Also rappers today give lots of praise and respext to Rappers who came before them, but its mostly 90's rappers and you can't be mad at that because that's who they grew up on. Kendrick lamar didnt grow up to Big daddy Kane, he grew up to Jay Z.

I think alot of dudes are just mad they don't give a fukk about the 80's.

i'm sure there's plenty of young rock heads who think the Beatles or Elvis are :flabbynsick: status. that 70s style of rock came back in style a few years ago after years of cats fighting against it or flat out hating on it. every genre has it's cycles, every genre has unheralded legends and every genre has fans who think Empire Of The Sun is better than Def Leppard, ESPECIALLY teens.

I'm 21 and I don't think that. What it really comes to is appreciating the past and what it had to offer while embracing the present time and future.

True and that's how it should be. That's one thing about Europe and other other countries..they actually know the history and appreciate the music. It's just different..if you haven't been abroad then you missing out because it's a whole different scene.

Why is it only in hip-hop that the youngings have no respect for those that paved the way for them. Your favorite rappers are in their late 30s and early 40s except for camel. You don't see this type of disrespect in any other genre of music. Is it ignorance? Discuss. I'm waiting for the poor lame comeback of flabby and sick which was taken from a 2pac line as a diss to de la soul lol

I think you kind of answered your own question. I think its because new artists , unless they follow the "hip hop recipe" on how to be a "real artist," get no respect from any body including the veteran artists. I've read thread after thread and post after post of ppl talking shyt on this artist and that and a few of them aren't even dissing new artists they are about veterans in the industry (Jay-Z who some lovingly refer to as the camel) and you wonder why there's no respect?!! C'mon, newbie's would be naive not to come in with a chip on their shoulder and their guard up. They know what they are walking into. Their image and music is gonna be scrutinized heavily by fans of hip hop and its veteran artists. If they just take the criticism they are seen as soft so they talk shyt back. It would be nice if it was all love and respect but it isnt that way....shyt far from it. Drake is garbage according to most...to me he is different and interesting but in here he gets slammed for the most part. You gotta show respect to get respect. So if vets feel like they aren't being respected maybe they need to check themselves.

Blame the elders for not teaching them properly and not approaching the youngins with any respect. Some one them intentionally refuse to teach the younger dudes so they can have more knowledge than them to look down upon them.

Disagree.... it's about competition..that's hip-hop but still you still give props to whom paved the way that opened doors...that's healthy...hip-hop is about competition but not about fvck them and they don't know what they talking about type crap. I think I've made it clear..2pac at age 22 I believe when he made Old School gave a tribute. Now it's just flabby and sick crap because when it comes down to it..when a person has no words to respond back they just yell or post pics because they can't debate. I'm sorry but Drake said he won't stop singing on his songs...when was that hip-hop?

That's common in Hip Hop. It's traditionally a young man's game. Hell, Big and Pac both died when they were in their mid twenties and had classics under their belts.

On top of that, the "older cats" (I'm 27, so i'd say i qualify) have a higher standard. We grew up in the 90s. It's a bit over-romanticized, but cats were making fukking classics and shifting the game so it could progress. Even if it was mad record label money being thrown in your face ala Bad Boy, cats were still making game changing records

Who of these young cats are pushing the game forward now? Kendrick and Drake are like the only ones you could argue for. I dont think Cole wants that label. ASAP is out here wearing dresses and shyt. And honestly, Drake is a direct product of 808s and Heartbreaks. Not saying he wouldnt have been where he is now, but Kanye is a game changer and he definitely made that brand of hip-hop more popular.
