I agree about Garnett being terrible so far but Armstead has been hurt since he's been drafted and thats troubling A. Because we used a relatively high draft pick on him. B. He was supposed to be a high snaps player on this defense especially this year.
A little hamstring injury is really nothing with 4 exhibition games left

Cornerbacks

Richard Sherman -

On paper he was arguably the 2nd or 3rd biggest pickup in free agency. As great as Sherman has been in the past he was having a bit of a down year even before the injury last season. So its tough to guage whether he is still elite. Even if we get him at 85%, he should be the best corner on the team and his vocal leadership will be crucial with the loss of Eric Reid.

Grade: B+

Akhello Witherspoon -

A pleasant surprise last season. Witherspoon is a rare combination of coverage skills and speed. On top of thaf it was clear he was working on his game as the season progressed as he was an atrocious tackler in college and even in the preseason. Now he is an asset in run support and his tackling is a massive improvent. Under Shermans guidance this kid has all the makings of a borderline shutdown corner.

Grade: B+

K'Waun Williams -

Veteran CB whose experience and ball hawking skills have essentially sealed him as the teams primary nickel back. He has an ideal closing speed and is good limiting yards even if the receiver makes the catch. Solid player.

Grade: B

Tarvarius Moore -

3rd round pick from Southern Miss. At about 6'2 195. He has that large frame needed to defend the large and talented receivers of the NFC. Many people see him as a bit of a steal because while he is raw, his super fast speed and coverage skills are borderline elite. He just needs to use better tackling form in the pros and work on his instincts and anticipation.

Grade: B-

DJ Reed-

Rookie corner from Kansas State. Has incredible speed. Makes smart plays and has fluid hips which give him sharp change of direction skills. Unfortunately his lack of size means he'll be a slot or nickel corner pretty much his entire career.

Grade: C+

Tavarus McFadden -

UDFA. He has a chance to make a name for himself on special teams but most likely he gets stashed on the practice squad.

Grade: D+

Greg Mabin -

Though listed as a cornerback. I wonder if he is better suited to be a backup strong safety. He has good coverage skills but he isn't particularly agile or fast and he got burned by smaller shiftier receivers in college. He may have a chance in special teams.

Emmanuel Mosely -

UDFA. I think he is a camp body right now. He is small and his speed while fast is no longer as impressive in 2018

Grade: F

Unit Analysis: This unit is pretty talented and if Richard Sherman can stay healthy this could be an elite if not very good unit. But the success of this group will hinge on the front 7's ability to pressure the QB.

Unit Grade: B+

Hamstrings are very tricky. I hope its minor too but its tough to be a D-lineman on a bad hamstring especially since they tend to linger.
He basically has 5 weeks before the season starts, it’s not like he won’t be on the team

Pettis dominating, I don’t feel so bad about giving up that pick to get him

hes a good player. I feel worse about giving up trent for peanuts and then picking an OT in the first round...now trent is saying fukk the niners on twitter :francis:

but back to pettis, a lot of people think hes taking over taylor, I think they're very differently. you can put pettis on the outside and have him play flanker/SE. cant do that with taylor

I had an offer for 5 bucks tix to camp practices, but when I checked all the weekend practices were sold out and the ones during the weekdays conflict with work :francis:

He just sent me the schedule and let him know when I was free to roll. Tomorrow worked best . I was off last Saturday but he told me the weekday practices were better cause less crowds .

Just have to drive from Sac Thursday morning to get there :leostare:

Trading Trent will hurt if this guy can’t pass block worth sh!t

Back to pettis, he plants his leg in the ground like Keenan Allen. Pettis can play outside but Goodwin and Garcon arnt sitting for a rookie and nor should they. Just imagine the mismatches those 3 can create.
