Well then we opt out of Payton and throw in DSJ then get CP3 and FVV plus keep the 8th seed. I'd still throw in Frank or Knox in a heartbeat for those odds. We have 4 definite players we need to dump and that's Payton, Randle, Smith and Portis. That gives us leeway to get 2 max contracts. Am I right?
Close. That gets us to like 60 million but there’s no max guys out there this free agency.

Ntilikina has lil to no trade value :skip: what are you saying?

He is not coveted or particularly respected around the league. We have already been in talks to move him and nothing ever materialized. Even OKC, preferred Knox in talks. Knox is trash but at least his length and shooting stroke is attractive to teams. Ntilikina sucks and they already have a lot of guards and have Dort and Roberson as defenders.

Chris Paul is a damn Hall or Famer coming off an All-Star campaign :dwillhuh:

my argument isn’t about Paul it’s about leverage. It’s like someone trying to sell you a vintage car their desperate to get rid of but you don’t really need. Matter of fact, it’s a vintage car that someday paid them to take and they don’t want to pay the insurance on it anymore. We’ll gladly take it off your hands but don’t sit there and try to tell me how valuable it is. Then keep it!

okc is not desperate to get rid of paul
they are open to trading him and have several options based on how he played last season lol
we aren't doing them a favor at all
its mutual benefical for both teams

The team needed someone dumb like Daryl Morey to trade off Randle, Payton but he's gone and no one is dumb enough to take that offer.

OKC is a cheap, small market team that actively wants to rebuild and get a real player in the 21 draft (something we as a collective should be wanting as well, everything I’ve read says the Knicks brass feels this way). They literally let their coach walk because of this. They do not want to keep Chris Paul and his 85 million contract, no matter how many times Presti says it, literally nobody in the league believes him. I promise you that. If they want to take on bad contracts for multiple years so they can get a couple more late round firsts then let them.
If they want to pay Eric Bledsoe for 3 years, or Al Horford for 2 more, or whatever the fukk the Lakers can seriously offer (i don’t even think it’s possible) then we go get FVV or just sign DJ Augustin for 1 year, and roll into 2021 with 70 something million in cap space, a high lottery pick and hopefully another low lottery pick. For once in our lives we have ALL the leverage.
Our offer is instant cap relief. Nothing more. Nobody else (that Chris wouldn’t mind playing for) can seriously offer that...

Tim Bontemps just laid out 5 trade scenarios for Chris Paul on the Windhorst podcast last night:

-Chris to the Bucks for Bledsoe, Robin Lopez expiring, Ilyasova’s expiring and DJ Wilson’s expiring plus a pick (Windhorst and Pelton think the Thunder would then try and flip Bledsoe, but the Bucks are a cheap organization and aren’t sure they’d want to pay the luxury tax. Windhorst also kept hinting at a personality clash there, im assuming he thinks Giannis doesn’t like Chris Paul)

-Chris to the Pistons for Tony Snell and a pick
(Windhorst and Pelton don’t think it makes sense for Paul. Especially because of Blake)

-Chris to the Knicks for DSJ and a Mavs pick (Windhorst and Pelton were lukewarm on trading for Paul but get the logic. Windhorst emphasized that the Knicks can literally trade for him for nothing)

-Chris to the Sixers, Horford and the 2020 Thunder pick to the kings and Buddy Hield, Zaire Smith and Mike Scott to the Thunder (They don’t think it’s the best personality fit, plus the Sixers are taking on a lot of luxury money, especially in 2021, and Paul and Rivers didn’t get along at the end of the clippers run)

-Chris to the clippers, Thunder get nic batum, Rodney McGruder, Hornets get Montrez in a sign and trade, Lou Williams and Pat Bev (all depends on what Trez would agree to sign for but this would be a difficult trade to pull off)

You’re right. The organization that traded a young James Harden for spare parts because of money, totally want to keep a 36 year old pg that they already got assets to acquire, when they see the best draft class since maybe 2003 on the horizon.

They got like 6 1st round picks for Paul George. :skip:

And if they get picks for next years draft that adds to the point they will not be fleeced. :skip:

Saying oh we don’t have to trade Ntilikina to get Paul we don’t need to give up anything to get a Hall of Fame PG still at an All-Star level makes no sense. U still have to give up something.

Ntilikina is a low value player around the league there’s nothing senseless about throwing him into trades whether for Paul or anyone else.

The other teams offer better options.
