They got like 6 1st round picks for Paul George. :skip:

And if they get picks for next years draft that adds to the point they will not be fleeced. :skip:

Saying oh we don’t have to trade Ntilikina to get Paul we don’t need to give up anything to get a Hall of Fame PG still at an All-Star level makes no sense. U still have to give up something.

Ntilikina is a low value player around the league there’s nothing senseless about throwing him into trades whether for Paul or anyone else.
We are giving up all our cap space, to a small market team that just took a massive loss going into a season that’s up in the air financially that’s invaluable.

Presti took advantage of a desperate Clippers team. It’s our job as an organization to stop acting so fukking desperate.

You’re right. The organization that traded a young James Harden for spare parts because of money, totally want to keep a 36 year old pg that they already got assets to acquire, when they see the best draft class since maybe 2003 on the horizon.

They didnt think Harden would turn into a superstar and top 5 player. If they knew then what they know NOW i guarantee they would have overpayed to keep him...

“Last year the Thunder would have had to attach assets to get rid of Paul and his contract. Trading him for nothing would be considered a win.”- Brian Windhorst

Getting off 85 million with nothing coming back is not the Thunder getting fleeced.

If Paul sucked, then sure. He’s still pretty useful which is why something of value would need to go
OKC is a cheap, small market team that actively wants to rebuild and get a real player in the 21 draft (something we as a collective should be wanting as well, everything I’ve read says the Knicks brass feels this way). They literally let their coach walk because of this. They do not want to keep Chris Paul and his 85 million contract, no matter how many times Presti says it, literally nobody in the league believes him. I promise you that. If they want to take on bad contracts for multiple years so they can get a couple more late round firsts then let them.
If they want to pay Eric Bledsoe for 3 years, or Al Horford for 2 more, or whatever the fukk the Lakers can seriously offer (i don’t even think it’s possible) then we go get FVV or just sign DJ Augustin for 1 year, and roll into 2021 with 70 something million in cap space, a high lottery pick and hopefully another low lottery pick. For once in our lives we have ALL the leverage.
Our offer is instant cap relief. Nothing more. Nobody else (that Chris wouldn’t mind playing for) can seriously offer that...
After this season, only Chris Paul and a re-signed SGA would be the only players not under a rookie scale deal. Next summer they’re gonna have to pay guys just to get to the salary floor.

They don’t wanna pay CP3 $85 mil, but on merit he ain’t the relative liability he was a year ago

He’s gonna be a year and a half older damn near depending on when the season starts...

getting off his money clean also gives you the ability to go get a disgruntled star, something that means even more to a small market organization.

Clippers, Sixers and Bucks as well bruh.
The Sixers trade is the kings trade. I disagree about the bucks one. They’ll probably cut all those guys and try and trade Bledsoe. I’d rather DSj and a pick. The clippers one is even more worthless. Why take on a batum expiring when you can take on DSJ for 21 million less.

They can do that with or without Paul on the roster though.

there are rumors the Cavs would like to move down and get Obi. They might legit do a #5 trade for #8 and #27. Knicks could come away with Okoro who if he improves his shooting could be a beast.

It’s not a great fit but based on my understanding the Knicks FO will draft based on BPA. So the move up isn’t insane.

they already proved last year that they will keep him if they dont have a offer they like. no one expected paul to play a second in okc.

okc doesnt have shytty gm-ing like us. they playing the long game. we hold no leverage, dont be delusional lol

plenty of contenders got their eye on that situation

I'd rather keep both picks but yall know I stan Kira Lewis already, so that's my main reasoning. I'd throw in though that I think 27 should have some intriguing talent. This draft is lacking clear stars but the parity of prospects from late-lottery on and the limited scouting options this offseason means some really interesting talent could shake loose.

I don’t know if Obi is there at 8.

I also don’t think Okoro is a fit. The worst FT and 3PT shooting team shouldn’t take a sub-30% three point shooter who shot 67% from the line. He’s a raw athlete who needs development time and we already have Barrett.

I've said before that I'm agnostic on this one. I'm not eating CP3's contract before I see how teams are behaving toward the uncertain future cap and 2021 free agent class combo.

That's not because Paul isn't worth it, but I think cap space might actually be valued at a premium this offseason. If contenders want him, let's see how much they're willing to give up. 40 million in cap SHOULD net multiple picks when you're rebuilding.
