8 young pieces that I'm excited to see get time this season.

Good point from Wally, bringing Toppin in as an NBA ready prospect. Given the short window to get guys up to speed, seems like they went with an NBA ready prospect and then grabbed a player one of their coaches already knows that they have the inside track on getting him acclimated. If they bring Van Vleet in as lead guard, strategically for this accelerated season, this was actually fairly smart. Getting young talent but not having to contend with the steep learning curve a lot of teams will have to deal with.

Move Randle and DSJ
Sign Van Vleet and Baynes

Compete, see if Knox or Frank are worth investing in and if not and focus all mafia Kentucky moves toward grabbing BJ Boston (or Terrence Clarke).

Toppin
Boston
RJ
Van Vleet

That's an interesting fukking 5 with an NBA champion point guard in their prime steering the ship.

Aight y’all so Charlotte has LaMelo and we have Toppin.

Obviously for both franchises these guys are the future and we both have positional logjams.

What do y’all think of a Rozier for Randle trade?

Rozier would be a stop gap. I didn’t catch much of him in Charlotte. 18/4/4 last season, 41% from 3 on nearly 7 attempts. He’s a smaller guard and tough which Thibs likes at least in Boston he was considered a good defender. He’s not as good as VanVleet but he’s cheaper and we need to unload Randle. I also like that he’s a combo guard and can play off-ball which will give R.J. opportunities to be a point forward.

Charlotte could be interesting in using Randle as a small ball 5.

The front office had a plan and players who they were after. They traded down to 23 to use on Toppin if they needed to trade down to get him. I then think they were seeing if they had a chance for Maxey and when they didn’t they traded back for a chance at Quickley and Carey Jr. They dumped the pick when Carey was off the board for an extra pick in the 2023 draft to use for future trades. Nice draft strategy imo.

It’s seems like Knicks front office went with an analytical approach to the draft process. Unfortunately they probably missed out on a few All Stars in doing so.

don’t love it but if that’s the best we can do then fine.
