i know the format has changed but...
the teams with the top two picks had the two worst records in their conference and a worse record than the knicks
you want to boost your lottery odds as much as possible
knicks had no business winning anything once their playoff hopes were over
The lottery odds to get the number 1 pick is equal whether you have the first, second or third worst odds. That is a 14 percent chance in case you forgot. The Knicks meaningless wins earned them a 9 percent chance at the number 1 pick. That's a 5 percent drop. A 5 percent difference between being the worst team in the league and the 6th worst. It's not worth it to complain about winning too many games bro... The statistics just don't bear out it being worth it. You are statistically MORE likely to drop to the fifth pick when you have the worst record than the first. shyt, the Cavs were just as likely as the Warriors and Mavs to pick number one and dropped to fifth. It's a fukking crapshoot, and we haven't even gotten to how hard it is to actually pick a quality player even when you have a high lottery pick smh

Raleigh by way of Crooklyn
I don't understand why y'all so pressed to get Lamelo. He's far from a sure thing.

This ain't the draft to try to move up in, even if you get number one. In the last draft this bad, Giannis was chosen 15th. Anthony Bennett was number one. Unless the player Walt Perrin wants is definitely going in the top 5, just be happy with the picks we got and try to hit on every pick. Get out of this savior mentality fellas. Draft well, develop well, and plan smart. That's how we move forward

Call me crazy, but I don't think flashy Lonzo Ball with slightly better vision is with two or three picks. Knicks have three shots at picking a starter/star... They should be trying to find the next Giannis, Donovan Mitchell or Devin Booker... Not the next Kahlil Okafor, Markelle Fultz or DeAndre Ayton

The beauty of Kira Lewis being my draft target is that I won't be disappointed no matter what happens. If we land in position to grab Ball or Edwards, I'll be very happy but my personal favorite prospect is in play no matter what (not the best prospect, just my favorite one).

Everything considered I’m looking at Kira a lot harder too. He’s raw but the talent is there. Also he is potentially a threat in the half court.

Kira and Reed at 27.

On The Lottery — The Strickland

The Lottery is far less of a lottery than the draft itself. From 2010 to 2015, the draft has produced 26 All-Stars. The average draft slot for these 26 guys is 14.1. Can you hear it? That little decimal is giggling. Fourteen point one. The Lottery is laughing at us.

The laughter is especially sharp this year, in this draft, because this one — as you may have heard — is a “bad” draft. Really, all drafts are bad, and all teams are bad at drafting; some just look like they’re good compared to others who are going through a particularly bad streak of picking the wrong teenage question mark. Often, teams that are crowned “good” at drafting are more likely just good basketball teams, and good basketball teams tend to be be better environments to become good basketball players than bad basketball teams.
This hit a lil different

Just drafting those two would inject a ton of speed onto the roster for sure. Reed might just slip to our second round slot too in case one of the more intriguing guys makes it to 27 like Poku, Mcdaniels or a nose dive for Maxey.

I am looking at those Celtic picks too. They literally have too many picks and I could see them trading one or two for that top 10 protected 2023 Mavs pick. We shouldn’t touch next years Mavs pick either because that draft is too deep to give a pick away.

I totally missed that they've got three picks in the first round. I doubt the Mavs pick gets their 14th pick but that's right in the range where I think there are gonna be a lot of nice value picks (the parity in this draft is wild).
