I mean, it goes without saying that if the Knicks were able to work a miracle through whatever means to get legitimate offensive players, then yes, Beasley would be a good fit, but I was going off homie's projected depth chart above, and just adding someone like Hayes or Kira isn't enough. Needless to say, as long as Julius is on this team and playing a significant role, signing players like Beasley would be a waste of an exercise.
But I think it also goes without saying that the Knicks WILL be making changes to the roster though. They have 3 picks in the draft (with rumors of looking into acquiring another) and they have an abundance of cap space at a time when you can count the teams with cap space on one hand.
I just think putting any single move for the Knicks in a vacuum is gonna come across like a waste (especially if you don't expect the young players on hand or selected to show much growth). It's a bad roster whose only brightspot is the flexibility.
Kira/Beasley/RJ/Spacing PF/Mitch
That's not a team that's ready to take a playoff spot. But the 4 known commodities all have complimentary skillsets, upside and are under-25. Possibly even more important is that this is the sort of build that saves flexibility to address needs in the future. Kira, RJ and Mitch will all still be on their rookie deals in the 21-22 season. That means, you can lean on development but if it doesn't work; the options to address needs still exist.
So first you give Thibs (and just as importantly Kenny Payne and Johnnie Bryant) some time to try and grow these players. Then if it's looking like a waste; you have options to adjust. Multiple first round picks in each of the next couple of drafts; cap space; and a bunch of rookie contracts. You can work with that.
I have high hopes for Payne and Bryant as well as the new scouts. This is the first time a FO has assembled where I actually feel some confidence that they'll get results instead of having to guess in a long time.
