One and done did basically the opposite of what it was supposed to, in that it increased the turn around in college at such a high rate absolutely no one was actually developing any skills. Waaaaaay more freshmen were declaring for the draft than HS kids ever were which just made the rule stupid. Plus kids were cramming themselves onto the teams with the most visibility because they felt they only had one year to get eyes on them to get into the lottery.lol @ people acting like this is a big win. before it was put in place you had maybe 2-4 kids per draft go straight from HS to the pros, and one every 2-3 years that actually became a star (kobe, kG, dwight, etc.), the population of kids this actually affects is so low, didn't matter either way whether they kept it or not.
I was saying like 5 years back they really need to make the G-League a true minor league. I loved Mark Cuban's idea of drafting players into the G-League and require they play one or two years down there. During the 1 or 2 years force the players to take classes applicable to being a professional athlete. Classes relating to managing money and I forgot what other ones he mentioned. Also will get them accustomed to the NBA lifestyle before they get the really big money. Also gives teams a chance to coach players up and integrate them into the system before hitting the pro team.like i said, there are a handful of people who go straight from HS to the pros, one and done isn't the issue. most kids still need some league/play between HS and the NBA, and that's still mostly done thru college. they need a viable paid league between the two, removing one and done is some faux bone to throw complainers without actually doing anything to truly remove the free labor system of the NCAA

Edit: here's the list...again, stop acting like one and done is the issue. the issue is no viable paid "development/junior" league

breh, we're talking 1-5 kids....who are "forced" to college for a year. for the umpteenth time, this fixes nothing in the grand scheme of NCAA being a free farm system/kids basically being forced to go thru the NCAAOne and done did basically the opposite of what it was supposed to, in that it increased the turn around in college at such a high rate absolutely no one was actually developing any skills. Once the rule goes away, with the stress of NBA ready guys taking college roster spots every year going away, and thus more fringe-ready guys staying an extra year, we'll see more guys going to smaller schools where they can be the feature for 1-2 years. The madness of a few teams fielding a whole new prep dream team every fall will go away. It wasn't benefiting anyone.
exactly, i'm a big proponent of paid transitional leagues being the path to the NBA and NFL in particular. let kids play there 1-4 years, have their shot at getting drafted. if they don't, then let colleges recruit them/do the scholarship thing. they will have made a little money from their talent and people who know the league isn't in their future will take that educational opportunity more seriously. no one will give a fukk if the starting DE is 23 instead of 20, or if the starting PG is 21 instead of 19.I was saying like 5 years back they really need to make the G-League a true minor league.
