Well, thank shrinking HR budgets for this. Instead of hiring people that know the roles they're recruiting for a lot of employers are just using techniques that actually discourage prime candidates. The top candidates in any field don't fvck with most of these nonsense applications only the most desperate.

Then again, a lot of employers don't like "top candidates" as they're just looking for cubicle drones to man phones and update records.

This. If a application will take me more than 5 mins to fill out or if I feel there are stupid questions on it (making me remember shyt I ain't got time to remember), I'm immediately :camby:. But then again, I'm so used to just posting my joint on Linkedin, Dice, or Monster.com and letting companies get at me. I'm lazy as fukk when it comes to shyt like that.

Long, detailed, redundant online applications are a candidate screening technique. The longer the application, the worse (in terms of tedium and micromanagement) the gig.

Another screening technique are endless "assessments." Those are used to find out which candidates are willing to jump through a bunch of arbitrary hoops to get a gig.

I used to sell ATS systems and conduct recruitment campaigns. I have first hand knowledge of the HR game.

Man...you can drive yourself crazy trying to figure this stuff out...I heard even a lot of companies never review those online applications unless they have a severe shortage of applicants inhouse.

I can speak from experience and say that when my supervisor had to hire another body for a position in our department, she had nearly a 3 foot stack of resumes with super and over qualified people...

so who got the interview and ultimately the job? A friend of one of her friends....you think she was gonna look at 3,000 hand made resumes OR sit back not give a fuk and watch House Wives of Atlanta?

i might go to another job fair next week.....i hate those...i swear its some sick troll shyt

I don't know man...I always came out with a few good leads there....

I never went to one open to the public...but my college normally had them exclusively for the students and/or for our specific majors...it was almost too easy because the comapanies were there specifically for staffing and recruiting in most cases...and it was very easy to make a human contact.

That's the hardest part nowadays IMO...getting that human contact where they actually can look at your shyt.

At a career fair for my school...I use to just go to the table...introduce myself, hand them a resume, get a card and follow up with that same person....my success rate for interviews and offers went up like 500%
