I used to be a part of the degree having people that downplayed college. But we have to start advising young black men better.

Going to more affordable schools. Taking advantage of grants and scholarships. Working in college but at jobs and internships that are in their fields. But most importantly, reaching out for help whether in class or just emotionally.

Most things that you'll want to achieve will require the sacrifice. Perseverance. But you don't have to do it alone.
Problem alot of blacks feel like they are doing it alone. Hence why we need to revamp the education system on our own and this starts at home.

1st thing first black people need to stop having so many kids they cannot adequately take care of. Having more than 3 kids is insane this day and age. Especially when you don't make above 100K solo. The added stress of single parent household tryna play both roles of a parent and then working in corporate America isn't quite condusive anymore to beget a system that is energized to invor the child into education.

Finishing my degree asap. Making really good cash for a HS graduate but I see my applications even within the institution I work in going straight to the trash due to not having a degree. Tired of it and have enough experience now where a degree Will actually put me over the top for 1% earnings.

If brothers can advance without additional debt it’s a blessing
You can avoid massive debt by geauxin to community College. They literally are giving away free education. And after your 2 yrs and if you have a high GPA which you should, the 4 yr state school will hurl money at you to continue your studies. I wished I would've done that coming out of hs but JUCO was clowned so much by my coaches I knew I wasn't geauxin to a CC. SMH..worst mistake ever financially.

I was thinking that too. A mere 5% difference, especially given how hard the criminal justice system goes to try and lock brehs up is interesting. And there is a strong presence of black males in trade schools (nearly 40.4%, compared to whites 50.9% and the rest being all other groups) so that alone accounts for some of these numbers as well.

American Trade School Diversity: Racial Demographics & Other Stats
Yep. Folks don't know how to read stats correctly you basically placed all the factors that matter...you forgot Military too.

We Black Men are not doing as bad as the media portrays. All this while fighting to stay out of the pipeline to prison.

Brooklyn keeps on taking it.
88% of millionaires have a bachelors degree.

The vast majority of people with BA degrees aren’t millionaires. This is literally a useless stat.

Btw I have a bachelors and a Masters degree and work in finance.

I understand degrees have a better ROI but at the end of the day as a human learning how to get money is another skill that is separate from a degree.

Get it done breh. When you get that paper, you will be proud as fukk. Seeing your name on a piece of paper that was denied to your great grandfather is a feat in itself in this country.

I never implied that most bachelor degree holders are millionaires. I proved that of the millionaires the vast majority have a bachelor degree.

For those ppl who think a formal college education is not important. Just think about this, it has statistically been shown that life earnings for college grad is significantly higher than those who have not a college degree. The gap is getting even wider as time goes on.

See below ( Source Pew Research: 10 facts about today’s college graduates ):

"There is a growing earnings gap between young college graduates and their counterparts without degrees. In 2021, full-time workers ages 22 to 27 who held a bachelor’s degree, but no further education, made a median annual wage of $52,000, compared with $30,000 for full-time workers of the same age with a high school diploma and no degree, according to data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics. This gap has widened over time. Young bachelor’s degree holders earned a median annual wage of $48,481 in 1990, compared with $35,257 for full-time workers ages 22 to 27 with a high school diploma"

Of course there are exceptions where people who did not go to college are thriving but on a MACRO picture, college educate ppl make more that non-college educated. Plus for those who say that college education does not matter, you better not be mad at the Asians in that affirmative action lawsuit because at the end of the day it doesn't matter to have Black people significantly represented at elite private and state institution since college overall does not matter.

I would hope I feel that kind of pride, but im 50/50 in it. If I could just buy the degree for 5 figures, I would. On the other hand, I love the feeling of learning and applying it and seeing that email that I passed my course.

Im very matter of fact about me wanting the results and not caring for the grind, but there is a very good chance my ass gonna be blowing a tuition check at a restaurant after they call my name for graduation.
