Thought real gamers didn't care about all that other shyt that Xbox can do. They just want to play games. :russ: 3cepts trying to spin this into a win.

A lot of folks (like me) use their PS3 as a media hub. So this is a good news.

I've been saying that the PS4 (with the PS Camrea) would be a game console that has most of the media/social/OS features that the Xbox1 has. So the fact that the OS will be using 2.5GB of RAM & 2 CPU cores during games proves me right.
Not sure what you've been saying, but the prevailing narrative was that the ps4 was this super powerful made strictly for games/gamers machine.

The Fact is, The PS4's RAM & GPU is still superior compared to the Xbox1. The OS RAM footprint will shrink over time just like the PS3 & Xbox 360 OS RAM footprint did. No AAA games on PC are using more 4GB of RAM for recommend settings anyways.

The ram solutions are different yet pretty much equal. And the "superiority" of the ps4 gpu is negligible. The reserved ram for os features is to future proof the consoles. As more features are added over the years that ram will come in handy.

The poetic part about this is that the same people that broke the esram 192 gb/s story and never have recanted...are the same people that broke this one...

From the Article.

Sony's internal docs say that 4.5GB is the baseline amount of guaranteed memory available for game-makers
(note the memory usage of the Killzone: Shadow Fall demo) and most likely what the lion's share of launch titles will be using. However, other sources close to Sony indicate that developers can request up to an additional gigabyte of "flexible memory", and use it to boost elements of the game - but only if the background OS can spare it. We're told that incorporating this isn't trivial, and it may well be that to begin with only first-party developers target its usage.

That article is complete nonsense, considering Jonathan Blow already confirmed his game uses 5 GB of ram. I'd love to hear how an Indie blew past the 4.5 limit. lol@ an additional gigabyte of ram can be requested 'only' if the OS can spare it. What in the world is the OS doing in the background to where it 'may be' able to spare an additional gigabyte of RAM?

Sony stans during E3: Bu Bu Bu the PS3 has 8 gigs of DDR5!!?!!?!?! Its so much better than the Xbone!

M$ fans: Dude, its not that serious. Games will look nearly identical.

Sony Stans: Nuuuu uunnnhhhh! Sony's system is the best! 8 gig of DDR5 will make the games SOO MUCH better than the Xbone!

Fast forward to today...

Sony stans: Well games dont need all that RAM anyways. The extra ram will go toward an AMAZING yet unseen UI!
