What's funny about this whole situation is that if this was about Xbox the Internet would have exploded with anger. There would be numerous articles about why you can't trust them cause they lied. and they've nothing to dissuade me from not picking up the PS4. As long as they continue to make games like God of War, Last of Us, and Uncharted, i'll be a Sony fan.

1 is flexible available to dev but it's heap memory not stack as of now.

1.5 for the OS
1 bookmarked for things they may need to add to os (in reaction to features in xbone which become popular for eg party chat for ps3)
They could free up the 1 back from os in the future and streamline the rest accordingly . Basically Sony is playing it safe . Also devs seem that some of these comments and discussions are way overblown and are happy with the ram available .
Bottom line 5.5 at launch or so. More later but that could take time

The Xbox is a pioneer when it comes to things like XBL. What did XBL bring to the table besides online gaming?
It game us Netflix and blah blah blah x100. Now they trying to do that on a much bigger stage. Just like you had no idea Netflix would land on a console or be a big deal
New things will be introduced that will boggle the mind. And you can do multiple things at once on Xbox.
All these different things is what will use up Memory on Xbox.
Sony gamers were so fukking stupid, thinking they knew anything acted like all this ram would be for gaming thus making there games superior
Reality is sony this year caught wind of some of the things Xbox was bringing to the table. So they are doing the same thing they did the entire gen last time
Copy. Now there OS has as much space, even more. But for what? They don't even know, but once Microsoft tips there hand? Sony will have an alternative
If sony comes out with something great, it will be copied by M$. But M$ has been leading the charge all last gen. Sony doesn't innovate that way
This is where the sony fanboys say "Xbox copied free games, they copied other stuff too" and thats cool and all, but who cares. There would be no PSN for sony to give away free games if XBL wasn't here first. PSeye will use up a lot of that memory for PS4 because it doesn't have its own processor like Kinect 2.0 does
Kinect 1.0 didn't have its own processor and because of that Kinect games had to be downgraded because it used more system power just to operate (Tru Story)
So games that use the eye will need more system RAM to equal xbox versions of multiplat games that take advantage of the Camera.
Thats just one example, but the majority will be multitasking and instant everything. Xbox created, Sony hoping to be comparable even tho that wasn't the idea in the design process for the PS4
