If I wanted to meet a new person I'd go up and talk to them. :heh: Then afterwards if I'm cool with breh then I'll go and do the head nod. :manny: When I'm in the street I have my headphones in and am on my phone anyways so I don't really give a fukk to talk to random stranges tbh. :heh:

Since you don't know my father, I'm gonna advise you to not talk about him.

Why are you so entitled that you assume everyone from the jump (keep in my strangers, despite cultural similarities and upbringing) needs to address you directly tho.

I'm not entitled, just expressing my experiences...nobody needs to address me directly, I promise I won't be butt hurt if you don't...do I speak to people on the street? Not really, unless it's called for..I live in a big city so I would be saying hello every minute..I think it's mainly for those instances when there are not too many people who look like you and you both can acknowledge that...not that big of a deal, of course, but hey, everything isn't for everyone :yeshrug:

West Indian folks say good day ect.
Yup... I developed that habit from my grandmother...when I used to go out with her when I was younger she would literally say Hi to every person that walked by or if we're waiting in line at a store or something she would start a conversation with the people around us

For me, If it's an elder I usually say "Good morning", "Good afternoon", etc... if it's someone around my age I'll give a "Wassup", "Hello" or simple head nod... I'm definitely gonna acknowledge your presence in some way

I nod my head daily to as many brothers as possible...That shyt is ingrained into me...My pops would slap the shyt out of the back of my head if I built up the courage to walk with him and ignore an elder or another brother...Jits don't really care for it too much but I don't give a fukk, they gon get one head nod...If I see em again, I keep it moving... You never know what another brother went through that day and he prolly don't know your situation...I show you love and acknowledgement and get it back that's strength gained on both sides.
Ive learned that just a simple kind gesture will change a person's whooole day around

I went to the post office around my way to deliver a package the other day and me just being nice to the clerk changed his whole swag up

clerk: that'll be $2.74
me: aiiight *hands $10 bill*
clerk: here's your change :birdman:
me: alright thanks man... you have a good day bruh :obama:
clerk: really?
full
I appreciate that man I really do

he was probably was dealing with bullshyt that whole day but one person being nice changed all that around at least for that moment...shyt, that mightve helped him get through the rest of the day..the point is it costs nothing to show love especially to another black man or black woman

Not to say you're wrong but this same mindset is used when it comes to black economics etc

Shyt is very alarming
I agree. I'm outchea in Phoenix where is like 4% Black. I always give the nod. If one don't give one back I'm assuming he is a c00n or from NY or something:francis:

Look, breh. If we have a PURPOSE im all ears. I don't head nod, "whatsup" and all that shyt to someone on the street.

You know what I noticed years ago? Most people:

"Whatsup?"

"Nothing, man, you?"

"Nothing."

Ain't really say shyt. If I bother to ask someone about their day, its cause I care, and im not trying to pretend I care about people...just because they are there.

If we talking business or something, or fukk, if you think my shoes are dope, absolutely lets talk. But when im walking the streets or whatever, I'm thinking about shyt

and lets be real, if you ain't a chick, I probably don't care to talk to you:yeshrug:And even ladies don't break my stride like that.

I spoke to an old-head a couple weeks ago on the bus for 35 minutes why? He asked where I came from. He had a purpose, and he was dope.

Had he just been on some "Whatsup, young blood?" I would have responded, probably rapped with him for a second, and went back to me.

When you can offer me something, be it entertainment or money, we can talk. I won't be rude, but please, don't street harass me:troll:

Bruh I grew up in a predominately white and Indian suburbs and I would always be cool right from the jump with the new black kid.

We got more things in common, face the same struggles because of how we look etc.

And it's awkward af to stare someone down while walking past them and not acknowledge them with a head nod.
