I been thinking about this today. What if Rico/ON had taken more from their artists contractually? :jbhmm:

Maybe OutKast makes more albums because they didn't get all their cash off publishing :jbhmm:

Maybe if they had OutKast under contract when they went to Interscope, they got the recognition/freedom/push Dre got with Aftermath :jbhmm:

Maybe Witchdoctor and the rest of their artists pop because they're given that push :jbhmm:

Maybe Future comes out through them and keeps the legacy moving forward directly and not just in spirit :jbhmm:

i feel that way, but i kinda feel him though, more so on the goodie mob shyt though. it's like he held the goodie mob down, even after cee-lo left. cee-lo comes back and i commend him for doing that, but that trash ass production he brought ruined the album though. like rico said they need them, kast probably not as much, but goodie definitely needed his voice of reasoning for that last album. hopefully they work together again since ceelo has been knocked back to earth. supposedly they gonna be dropping some unreleased music too.
i want to say in one of these df magazine pieces, likely the one where they were talking about the hard times rico went through, rico was playing beats/songs that were intended for the potential goodie mob reunion album. never came to fruition for whatever reason and we ended up with that disjointed travesty of a futuristic cee-lo album that noone wanted to hear. i say that as a fan of his solo work too. the df album showed what goodie could be post world party and solo records, but when it flopped it buried goodie for good. if they didnt take too long of a break and gone in the direction of the goodie tracks from that album i think they still had a good record left in them.

the production on the nappy roots record was solid, but not anything close to their 90's work. the album itself though, yeah was very underwhelming. i really want to hear this next big boi record, i think he needs to go along the veins of the hard ten album he was promising from outkast after idlewild.

onp's 90's work is up there with anybody's. they havent had the one album you can point to as evidence of their greatness since then cept for maybe the df album, but they've popped up with some gems. lines is probably my favorite track off big boi last album.

Excellent Doc. Just finished it. Kinda surprised Rico aint really talk about Future in this joint.

This doc was necessary, cause they were definitely unsung hero's majority of people my age only knew Sleepy Brown as a artist and not a original Organized Noise member :skip:

yeah it was in the vibe article and i was looking forward to them shyts too. it sucks because i don't even think the album was that bad, it's like cee-lo's world party instead of gipp's. if they ain't use those post gnarls barkley beats i think the shyt coulda been a dope album. they also talked about some dre 3000 solo songs to and they mentioned a song called "dandelion", then a few years back rico said future was on dandelion as well. I'm waiting on that shyt too.

I'm already :francis: on the big boi album though. in an interview last week he said he was working with some country artist. fukkin dre. i remember before last album dropped he said he played the "soul funk crusader" album to dre, and dre was like " you still doing funk?" and he switched it up and that's how we got "viscous lies and dangerous rumors". i liked that album, but he starting to go overboard with the experimentation.

that last point you made i disagree with though. they don't have an album you can point to because the nappy roots album is really the only whole album they've done since the 90s. other then that it's just been tracks here and there.

Watched this early this morning....Great documentary. The story & insight on how Waterfalls was made was just :wow:. These guys doesn't get the recognition they deserve and hope this doc will do that. Interestingly enough, I never knew they left 17 mill on the table at Interscope. That had to been a very difficult decision but it seemed like Jimmy put alot of pressure on them to make hit records and they couldn't just sustain it.

But yeah I'm looking forward to hearing if they still can make some hot shyt.
