Oscar Robinson knows more about basketball than most of you will ever get to.
He is arguably one of the best players ever, getting damn near 10 boards a game when the likes of Russell and Wilt were in their fukking primes.
To try to slate this man when he is telling the truth is sad but common.

Fact is to get whites and euros on board they made the game soft and took emphasis away from other facets of the game, such as defense and interior skill.
He is just stating the fact that this is the softest era ever, and if you took the Warriors back to the fukking 90s they wouldn't be able to compete, let alone in his day in the 60s when you couldn't palm, carry, had to worry about real defenses and be able to guard for real.

Show some fukking respect kids.

I hate this paradox argument that's brought up when discussing sports, where people say a past player's opinion holds more weight than the common fan's - as if there isn't another past player or coach whose opinion is the complete opposite to that past player. Not every single past player would agree with Oscar, not just in regards to the Warriors/Curry but also the state of the league.

He has every right to be bitter. From having to deal with racist to dealing with himself not being talked about as one of the best players ever.

If he was born 40 years later he would get the respect he deserves

He's frequently discussed among the top 10-15 players in league history, how is that not getting the respect he deserves?

Nobody plays physical against them...Its alot of bad defensive teams in todays NBA and yes that has to do with coaching.

Id love to to see the 08 Celtics play them...
You can't really be physical in the league now.. They took the physicality out of the game..

He mostly said the coaches dont understand the game and they don't play defense the way they should

It's mostly true
:dwillhuh:

It is not mostly true at all. You and Oscar are completely mistaken if you don't think coaches understand the game. I mean i) most coaches are either past players or come from coaching family trees - which would mean they played/learned during a time in which was based on a previous era - which means they they grew up with the 'knowledge' of how the game is supposed to be played in accordance to what Oscar is talking about. Who does he think these current coaches learned the game from? I mean you have dudes like Bob Weiss (who played against Oscar), who has 30 years of NBA coaching experience who's a part of the current Hornets coaching staff - there's people of his stature/pedigree all throughout the league.

ii) Coaches now have more data, information and help (this is a key one) that coaches in the past never had access to - the scouts, the film room manager, development coaches, offense/defensive coaches and strategists whose full-time jobs are to do just that.

How many times do you see guys running under the screen with Steph behind the line popping the 3
Players are humans - not only do they make mental mistakes but they also read what else is going on in the play and who is where. If you don't think teams are gameplanning for Curry or trying to limit his impact by suffocating the space he has to work with - I suggest you watch a few more Warriors games. You'll eventually see all the defensive attention and trapping he sees regularly throughout a game.
