Other than "it is wrong", which, is valid...why should I be concerned about international students attending American universities?

International students pay more in tuitions. That helps the school.

Most of these countries are sending their best and brightest. Most don't go back to their home countries they stay and contribute meaningfully usually studying subjects most Americans do not have the aptitude or attitudes to dedicate themselves especially STEM.

It basically allows us to attract top level students who contribute through their money and in exchange they work for our various corporations and nonprofits raising the floor/ceiling of such organizations.

It's soft power and innovation.

We teach American ideals, which generally tend to be popular and progressive.

Any country that isolates itself from people, trade and technology start to decline and in some cases reverse course technologically and socially. Look no further than Islam. Islamic nations used to be way more progressive and advanced than The West. I'm trying to recall which fundamentalist from the 15th century started to take Islam backwards.

If this country was WASPs and WASPs only, they would've never been the hegemon of the world.

EDIT: I call out Islam specifically because we're on a similar course with Christianity. I'm not religious, but I'm not anti-Christian. I just don't think we should use religion to set federal and state policy.
The single most influential radical Muslim in modern times Sayyid Qutb was radicalized during his time period in America as an International Student in the late 40s.

It is not that clear cut

Peace be unto you. By no means was I being reductionist. That's why I said "started". Radical and/or fundamentalist are subjective depending on the debater. Just did a quick look up, I'm referring to Muhammad Ibn Abdul-Wahhaab. He had a much stricter interpretation of Islam in the 18th century that started in Saudi Arabia and then eventually spread throughout the region.

And I'm not insinuating the religion is antiquated, but there are rejections of ideals and tolerances that the world has normalized for hundreds of years that certain Islamic theocracies prohibit.

Because the US has spent decades attracting the smartest minds from the entire world to come here, get an education, become Americans and create/cure/discover/etc shyt that we get credit for. It's been a win win for decades and is one of many reasons why the US hegemony and soft power have endured.

Everyday i realize the average person can't see the world outside of EXACTLY what's in front of them DAILY.

SOFT POWER MATTERS and America as a whole has benefited from it in so many ways.

Anyone thinking closing of international students to American universities is a good thing IS INSANE

This is another bone headed move to purposefully hurt the economy, Dude is trying to KILL tuition revenue which goes back (at least in part) to infrastructure, research, and scholarships .

Budget cuts calls cause many working class people in college towns to lose their job.....

also American Tech/business will be affects as talented folks will just stay in their country's to go elsewhere ( Europe, China ect)

China already kicks our ass even though we brain drain them constantly this will just make it WORSE

Americans always want to bump they chest with EXEPTIONALSM

But most obviously don't really understand everything that added to American Exceptionalism in the first place...

At its root, yes, clearly, and good point. And obviously being from where I'm from, the last thing I'd want would be a downfall of college towns.

In addition to what others have mentioned about killing universities income, these (along with ending DEI) are moves to box out anyone except rich white people from getting degrees, in turn making them the only pool of desirable candidates when it comes to high paying jobs and good careers.

They don’t want anything to be based on merit, they want it based on your last name first and your whiteness second

Just like everything done in this administration, it’s a short con being put in play so they can hit you with the long con later.

Universities will suffer if foreign students stop coming to America to studies . Canada suffered when China pulled it's students from Canada . The administration is sinking the economy & they do not care . They only care about preserving yt supremacy

Lots of good answers in here. I can no longer care because spiritually I am done with this country. All of the tariffs, immigration, VA benefits that they ping pong back and forth have cases in court.

We cannot forget that it was foreigners who helped undo what our folks died for. That Asian dude who sued over admissions. Where were the foreigners then? Not a peep. Everybody except for us voted against us. Every civil right, museum, educational or federal business funding that mentions being for black people has been cut! We knew it would happen, Society as a whole knew it would.

We knew what the rhetoric meant when he was campaigning and so did they! Let this country burn breh. It’s time for us to transmute that compassion into super powers. That “supremacy” knows no earthly bounds and only we are equipped to defeat it.

Good point. You think valuing our education system is an integral part of this? That, American buying power and manufacturing exports, and defense presence and exports aren't enough?

There's a $300 billion export deficit between the US and the EU and China..and this is before your tarrifs.
you need all the money you can get right now and US influence around the world has waned severely.

Even tourists aren't coming to the US like before, so I suppose like foreign students you don't need or care for their paltry dollars either, you're just fine as all powerful go it alone America huh.

That very attitude is what caused Trump to think the world needed America more than it did, forcing him to try exact leverage on a world America didn't actually have real leverage over.
