Man, the NBA has a LeBron problem—but no one wants to say it. Breh is not a legitimate competitor like that, let alone hyper-competitive like greats of the past. He ushered in this era of player-empowerment, team stacking, etc. and the product has suffered tremendously for it. If LeBron was in the ASG really hooping on some, “I’m leaving here with something,” shyt, the other players would fall in-line. Everybody knows that. Yet Bron isn’t that guy. He’s the exact opposite (i.e., sat out last minute). Even if he had played, he would have been going thru the motions at half-speed. shyt, I remember Kobe yelling at LeBron for passing up a potentially big-time shot in the final moments of an ASG. I think it was in Orlando.
Are all of the product issues his fault? No. There’s been rule changes and Silver being an incompetent and feckless commissioner has exacerbated the issues. Are all of the culture issues LeBron’s fault? No. With that being said, LeBron is a GOAT—however—he’s the originator of a lot of the cultural issues in today’s game. He’s the league’s leader. He’s the guy the other plays look to and take their cues from. When they were debating cancelling the season after George Floyd, he was the guy that all the players wanted his input. If he was out there diving for loose balls on some Kobe shyt during the ASG, the games would be different.
