Kendrick is different since his music has soul/jazz elements so i'd agree with you about him. It's a lot harder to copy his music and be successful.

But look at Drake and Kanye, their sounds have substance and they inspired generations. I think it would be foolish to say Party, Future and Thug don't have substance in their music

They both have multiple #1 albums with incredible skill and deep substance. People copy flash over substance. Rap is the trendiest of all genres for a reason.
