An inconsistent discography and lack of hit records.

Been pretty much a Gold or less artist since 2002.

And you're still on his dikk.
And you still love his style.
Foh

N Ya fave wants no parts of that less than Gold artist. So there's that

Nas stans really think Nas music is deep or hard to understand or something?

Y’all are something else

It’s just boring with either bland or bad production

N yet here you are per usual...PERCHED

I'd question my manhood if me n you liked the same artist. No doubt in my mind your whole aura in real life is disgusting. Whomever personifies cool, you're the direct opposite of that.

U have to bring up side collaboration albums with Linkin’ Park and R. Kelly (which only strengthened Jay’s crossover appeal and discography) to make your case. :mjlol:

BP2 and MCHG may have not been great albums but they have good recognizable songs.

And yeah Nas lacks hits. There’s threads here on hypothetical Verzuz with Nas against guys like Jay, LL, 2Pac and stans struggle to list songs. Nas never been a hit maker and hasn’t had one since 2002. It plays a role in his perception because he don’t got the same amount of single undeniable records as other artists.
God’s Son came out the same year as BP2 and that had both Made You Look and I Can. Plus it was received better by the public.

SD debuted at number 5 selling 232K what you talking about breh? Where are you getting your facts:gucci:

The point of the matter is that Nas wouldn’t have gotten $10 Million dollars from Def Jam if he wasn’t a proven commodity in the sales department. As soon as he went to Def Jam his first three solo albums all debuted at number 1. And they went Gold.

Can you name another rapper not named Jay-Z who EIGHTEEN YEARS after they debuted was still debuting within at least the top 5 on billboard and selling Gold? Those names don’t EXIST breh. I’m not trying to say that Nas was this super Diamond selling artist but to ignore his commercial and mainstream success and continued relevance (Nas with King’s Disease now sets the record for longest span of Rap Album Grammy noms at 22 years since I am was nominated in 99) is just faulty logic

Out of curiosity....do you think Def Jam's 10mil was a good investment? One plat album, two gold albums (one of which took took nearly 8 years), and two that didn't sell (Distant Relatives and Nasir). Mind you, the label is getting around 62% of total album sales, at best.

Hip-Hop & Politics › “I Can”, Nas
“12 years later, I thank Mr. Duncan for allowing us to memorize the lyrics to Nas’ song because it has instigated my growth as a person, sister, daughter, friend, and child of God”. [5] She explains how the African historical narrative, fulfilled an educational element many rap artists neglect to incorporate, yet would make their work more meaningful. By incorporating education, the audience has an opportunity to learn from the song, creating long-term impact. Carson identifies, “Read more, learn more, change the globe”, as one her favorite lyrics from the song because it “exemplifies how and why we strive to make our mark in this world”

Bruh. One plat album makes that money right back and then some. u buggin out. Lol. shyt. Def Jam was MORE mad at Jay Z for Kingdom Come because they didn’t make back what they spent in promotion and other shyt with that album.

I'm just curious to get the answer. But in terms of a plat album no, it doesn't break even when the label gets about 62% of sales revenue. And that's not counting promo which is an expense, which wasn't coming out of Nas' budget. The label paid for that. They did a pretty impressive mixtape promo with Statik, among other things.

I agree they were way more concerned about KC.
